🌊🚇 Big news for Suffolk and Essex! After months of very quiet planning, engineers have finally confirmed the start of work on a brand‑new underwater tunnel linking Felixstowe to Harwich. That’s right — no more ferries, no more detours… just a smooth, scenic drive straight under Harwich Haven.

Early reports say the tunnel features:
Illuminated “marine windows” so drivers can spot passing fish
A mid‑tunnel lay‑by with a coffee kiosk
A dedicated lane for cyclists brave enough to pedal beneath the waves

Here's one for today. Those of you from Felixstowe will, I'm sure, have heard of the Emeny photographs. This one is of the Rust family, dated 1897.

The museum is lucky to have quite a few of this type of photograph, a selection of which will appear over the next few weeks.

The Fort was alive with the sound of music! 🎷🎻
Last summer, we were delighted to welcome back the students of Felixstowe School for their annual Gala Concert. There is nothing quite like hearing young talent perform against the backdrop of our iconic Fort.

Why this matters:
Every penny from ticket sales is being donated back to the school to help buy new instruments. We believe in supporting our young people and ensuring they have the resources they need to flourish.

"I remember doing these concerts when I was at school," says our General Manager, Elian Shipp. "To be part of this memory for these students is such an honour."
We’re already looking forward to the next one! 🏰✨

🌿✨ Discover the science, feel the magic!

The Felixstowe Citizen Science Group’s 2025 findings have revealed just how rich and diverse the wildlife is at Landguard Nature Reserve—from busy pollinators to rare bird sightings. But the best way to appreciate it isn’t just reading the data… it’s stepping into the reserve yourself.

📍 Wander the paths, listen to the calls overhead, and spot the very species the volunteers have been recording. Every visit adds to the story of conservation, and every pair of eyes helps us protect this special place.

So why not plan a trip? Bring your curiosity, your camera, or just a moment of quiet to soak up the landscape. The reserve is waiting to welcome you. 🐦🌸

💬 Have you visited Landguard recently? Share your favourite wildlife encounter below—we’d love to hear what you discovered!

As we approach the end of 2025, we want to share some conclusions to our work this year. These themes will be used as a basis for our projects in 2026. We would welcome constructive feedback. To read these conclusions in full size, just click on them.
