Faversham Foodbank

Faversham Foodbank Providing emergency food parcels and support to those in crisis in Faversham. We are seeded by the Trussell Trust.

Launched on 2nd May 2014 we are a Christian initiative bringing volunteers together to serve the community by providing emergency food parcels and support for those in crisis in Faversham and its surrounding villages as shown here bit.ly/3VYhi0T. We give three days worth of food to individuals and families in crisis, and in doing so, share Jesus' love to the people of Faversham. If you would like

Do you know anyone who would like to have a natter?
We know the value of a warm welcome, a friendly face, and a cup of tea or coffee at the Foodbank.
Many of our clients don't only come in for food and wider support from our team, they also want to have a human connection, a chat, someone who will listen to what is on their mind.
This is Loneliness Awareness Week.
Social isolation can have a serious impact on people’s wellbeing. It can mean having no one to help with everyday challenges, no emotional support during illness, and a loss of confidence, connection and joy.

❗ People in the UK are turning to food banks like ours because they don’t have enough money from work, social security payments, or both, to get by.

This isn’t right.

Everyone should have enough money in their pockets to afford the essentials we all need, like food and a warm home.

We’re campaigning to make this a reality.

And in the meantime, we’re here to provide emergency food and practical support to anyone who needs it. 💚

Shouldn’t people who need to use a foodbank just get a job/work more hours?
Sadly, it's not always that easy.
People come to Faversham Foodbank who, despite working full-time, are still going without essentials because their income is too low.
Nearly a third of people referred to foodbanks are in working households, up from 24% in 2022.
This shows that work doesn’t always provide a clear or reliable way out of hunger, and that this is getting worse.
Plus, many people referred to foodbanks are unable to work, or to work more, due to disability or health conditions, caring commitments and other barriers.

We have received a lovely donation via one of our volunteers, Gill B, following the passing of her dear aunt, Mrs Pauline Robson.
The family asked for donations to charities and Gill very kindly chose the Foodbank.

When you think of donating to your local food bank, pasta and beans might spring to mind.

Though these staples are always appreciated, food banks also need some more unexpected but essential items - take a look! 👀

If you're able to, please pick up a few of these for your local food bank the next time you're at the shops.

For the most up-to-date needs, check your food bank's website or download the BanktheFood app. 💚

Ever wondered what a foodbank does?👇

Foodbanks like ours provide emergency food and practical support to people facing hunger and hardship.

When people come through our doors, we always offer a warm welcome, a cuppa and a chance to chat.

We double check any dietary requirements people may have and then provide a parcel that contains three days’ worth of food, including things like cereal, pasta, soup and tinned veg.

We also offer practical support with things like money matters, housing and mental health.

It’s not right that so many people are finding it hard to get by right now.

But when times are tough, we’re here to provide compassionate and dignified support. So if you, or someone you know, needs help – please reach out. 💚
