1st Farnsfield Scout Group Helping young people of Farnsfield and surrounding villages be for a brighter future

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 4-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In

Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

It was Bramley Cubs vs Adults this week ๐Ÿ˜
The dads came prepared โ€“ knees were out, the Lycra was stretched to its engineering limits, and self-belief was at levels usually reserved for Olympic athletes. ๐Ÿ˜†

The evening featured tug of war, a 1000m run, and a game called Rats and Rabbits, which had to be explained to us by the Cubs because apparently adulthood doesnโ€™t prepare you for everything.

Despite several dads discovering muscles they havenโ€™t used since the last century, the competition remained fierce throughout.

Against all odds, the dads won overall. They showed absolutely no mercy, celebrated every point like a World Cup final, and will undoubtedly be reminding everyone about it for the next 12 months. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ˜‚

What a fantastic evening on the water for Goodwin Scouts at Hoveringham! โ›ต ๐Ÿšฃ

The Scouts had the opportunity to try their hand at canoeing, kayaking and sailing, developing new skills, building confidence and challenging themselves on the water.

A huge thank you to the team at Nottinghamshire Scouts Adventure Centre for providing such a brilliant experience. Itโ€™s always great to see our young people stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another and having fun along the way! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป โšœ๏ธ

Tonight Frampton Scouts and Fortis Explorers session was officially sword-ier than expected ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ๐Ÿ˜„

They swapped knots and campfires for masks and foil fencing with the amazing Radcliffe Sword Club โ€” and honestly, the Scouts absolutely smashed it. There were fast feet, brave lunges, a few dramatic โ€œI meant to do that!โ€ moments, and at least one Scout who briefly believed they were in a medieval duel for honourโ€ฆ and possibly marshmallows.

They learned how to fence safely, think quickly, and try not to get too carried away when suddenly handed a sword (very important life skill).

Big thank you to their instructor Ian for keeping everyone safe, patient, and only mildly terrified when they all started taking it very seriously ๐Ÿ˜…

Though the Leader may need another weekend to recover, we were so proud of all our Squirrels and Beavers, they've been amazing. Time for a rest ๐Ÿ’ค
