Tilford Gardening Club Tilford Gardening Club, founded in 1905, is one of Surrey’s oldest. It hosts flower shows, talks, garden visits, and workshops.

Welcoming all gardeners, meetings are at Tilford Institute with shows at the Rural Life Living Museum.

🌱🌷Spring Show 🌷🌿

What an incredible turnout for this year’s Spring Show! We were blown away by the quality and variety of entries. From truly show stopping Spring flowers to an impressive selection of homegrown veg and delicious cookery creations 🍰🥕

A special highlight was the fantastic number of children’s entries this year. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and creativity on display and lots of well deserved prizes won!🏅

Thank you to everyone who entered, attended, and helped make the day such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Don’t forget our next talk is coming up in April, all about dahlias 🌺 We’d love to see you there!

🌸🐣 Looking for something fun to do with the children this weekend? 🐣🌸

Why not get involved in our Spring Show and make a day of it!

📅 Sunday 29th March
📍 Rural Life Museum

For just £10 family membership, you can enter the show AND enjoy a lovely day out exploring the museum grounds. It’s a great chance for the children to get creative and they might even win a prize! 🏆

Children’s competition entries include:

🥚 A decorated hard boiled egg
🍪 Easter biscuits
💐 A bunch of spring flowers in a vase

Plus, they can also enter any adult classes. We have lots to choose from including making an Easter card or entering a photograph.

Important info:

Exhibits are to be in place by 11am for judging and must be taken away at 4pm.

Come along for a wholesome, family-friendly day filled with creativity, community spirit, and springtime fun 🌷💛

Just a reminder that we have three great events coming up this March and there’s still time to join in! 🌱

🌿 Garden Workshop – Seeds & Cuttings
📅 Thursday 12th March, 7.30pm at Tilford Institute
A back-to-basics guide to sowing seeds and taking cuttings. Please bring a piece of a plant you’d like to propagate (compost and pots provided).

🌸 Flowers for Fun
📅 Thursday 19th March, 7.30pm at Tilford Institute
A fun, hands-on introduction to flower arranging as we prepare for the Spring Show. Please bring a few flowers, some foliage, scissors, two flower spray trays (if you have them) and an egg cup.

📅 Sunday 29th March at The Rural Life Museum
Please note cars are not allowed in the grounds after 10am, but help will be available to carry exhibits to the Village Hall before 11am.

Children’s entries for the Spring Show include:

🌱 Do you have green-fingered children, or want to encourage a love of the great outdoors? 🌱

We are delighted to be introducing children’s classes at our village shows this year including gardening, cookery and craft. Young entrants can take part in these classes and are also welcome to enter any of the adult categories.

Our goal is to nurture a love of gardening and growing in our younger generation and help them feel proud of what they create 🌻

Family membership is £10 per year, which also includes free entry to the Rural Life Centre on all three show days.

The start of the Tilford Gardening Club’s year is always our Chairman’s Evening, and 40 members came to Tilford Institute to enjoy a delicious chicken and leek pie, lots of very fattening desserts and even cheese and biscuits, all provided by the committee. It was great to meet up with old and new gardening friends and take part in team quizzes, then win some prizes in an excellent raffle.

March is a busy month for members, with the first event of the year now on Thursday 12th March, which is a workshop on ‘Seeds and Cuttings’ taken by two of the club’s committee. A week later on Thursday 19th is the first of our ‘Flowers for Fun’ hands-on flower arranging classes. Both will be in the Centenary room of the Tilford Institute, starting at 7.30 pm.

One more event is run by the Surrey Horticultural Federation, which all gardening club members are able to attend, is their Spring Talk at Normandy Village Hall on Saturday 21st March at 2.30 pm. This will be by Tom Brown, the Head Gardener of West Dean Gardens, and will be called ‘Making the Most of your Greenhouse’. Tickets £10 each for members, or £15 for visitors from Secretary Janet Arm on 01252-783133 or email [email protected]

Finally our Spring Show is on Sunday 29th March at the Rural Life Museum, so contact Janet if you would like to join our club and get your membership ticket and show schedule. Subscriptions are still only £6 single or £10 for a whole family up to 16 years of age!

✨ What a fabulous evening! ✨

Last night’s Contemporary Wreath Making Workshop was full of creativity, festive cheer, and plenty of laughter. Everyone made such beautiful, unique wreaths and it was amazing to see so many gorgeous designs come to life!

We kept warm with mulled wine, treated ourselves to fresh mince pies, and enjoyed a cosy, Christmassy atmosphere while getting hands on with all the greenery and decorations. 🌿✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, you made the night truly special.

✨ Christmas Wreath Workshop! ✨

On Tuesday 2nd December we’re getting festive with a Contemporary Christmas Wreath–making workshop led by the wonderful Jacqui… and trust us, this won’t be your usual moss-and-holly wreath. Expect creativity, colour and a lot of fun!

There are now only 4 spaces left, so if you’d like to come along, please reply quickly before they go! Spaces must be booked in advance.

Jacqui will provide the materials, but you’ll need to bring 3 (or more) tennis-ball-sized plastic baubles in your chosen colour scheme to make your wreath uniquely yours 🎄💫

Cost will be no more than £15, payable on the night (cash please).

🌸 Welcome to Tilford Gardening Club 🌸

We’re delighted to welcome you to the Tilford Gardening Club, part of the Surrey Horticultural Federation.

Whether you’re new to gardening or an experienced grower with a prize-winning carrot 🥕 (or two!), all are welcome.

We host regular talks, demonstrations, and meetings, covering all aspects of gardening. Our Village Shows are held at The Rural Life Centre, and club members enjoy free entry on show days 🎟️

Membership is just £6 for a single or £10 for a family, making it easy to join in and get involved.
