Teens today have so much information at their fingertips—some of it helpful, a lot of it misleading. ADHD and autism diagnoses are climbing, but half of what they see online is inaccurate. 

So when your child says, “I think I have ADHD,” it can be both validating and overwhelming.

Here’s how to hold the space with empathy and clarity:
• Listen without judgement
• Validate their experience (“That’s a brave thought to share.”)
• Explore together—initially through trusted medical guidance, not only social media

You don’t need to have all the answers. Just being there, curious and supportive? That can make all the difference.
