🍂 Great day yesterday at the Big Draw walk/draw event run in partnership with Southeast Communities Rail Partnership CIC and Blackwater Valley Countryside Trust.

Our adventurers avoided the downpour before setting off from North Camp station led by BVCT. Weather was just right for walking and taking in the countryside that lies beyond the railway and road network.

En route along the Blackwater Valley path we took in autumn changes and collected some natural painting resources visiting Water's Edge and passing Snaky Lane. Finishing up in the garden of the Old Ford pub for a coffee and "make your mark" artwork session led by Sara Grisewood from SCRP.

Great set of people and good company. Thanks to everyone who participated!

We will be setting off from the station at 10.30am led by our very own resident artist. All art supplies are provided.

Our hard working volunteers spent a busy Saturday morning hand mowing the verge on Platform 1 and planting a total of 80 spring and summer bulbs, including snowdrops and snowflakes (leucojum aestivum), ramsons (wild garlic), native bluebells, wild daffodils and tulips, and snake’s head fritillaries.

Hopefully we will see a bountiful bloom of blossoms popping up come spring ⚘️🪻

🐝 We were delighted to find evidence of mining bees, and our work was inspected afterwards by a robin.

What have you been planting in your gardens for next year? We love to hear your suggestions.

Just a reminder that we always looking for an extra pair of hands to help water, plant and generally spruce up the station, no experience required! 🌼

The planter by the dentist's window is on it's way to becoming a mini kitchen garden — mint (two varieties), curry plant, feverfew, chives, lavender and edible nasturtiums.

Makes me ready for a cup of tea just thinking about it.

Good morning North Camp! It's a bit drizzly outside today but the plants love it.

The cyclamen add a refreshing pop of autumn colour at a time when most other plants have finished blooming.

What else would you plant here? Suggestions welcome!

We also have.. skimmia, a couple of succulents, some primroses and nasturtiums.
