Dear Members and friends of the Legion,

This is to let you know that there will not be a Branch meeting this evening. We are anticipating a very low number of attendees, and with England playing Argentina at 8pm, many members may have other plans!

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

Kind regards, Faringdon & District Branch Committee

Faringdon & District Royal British Legion – Open Evening Highlights

On Wednesday 17th June, the Faringdon & District Branch of the Royal British Legion welcomed members, guests, and prospective new supporters to an Open Evening at the Bowls Club.

The evening was an opportunity to introduce people to the work of the Royal British Legion and encourage new members to join our branch community. We were delighted to share more about the support the Legion provides to serving personnel, veterans, and their families — and how local people can get involved.

A special moment of the night was the presentation of the Branch Stole to Reverend Maria Jukes of All Saints Church, as she begins her role as Branch Chaplain. Reverend Maria expressed her delight at taking on this position, saying: “It will be a privilege to support the Faringdon and District Branch Royal British Legion in this role as Branch Chaplain.”

On behalf of the Branch Committee, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the event, including:

- Our branch members
- Councillor Alan Ford, Mayor of Faringdon
- Reverend Maria Jukes, Vicar of All Saints Church
- Derek Bradshaw, Berkshire RBL Membership & Engagement Officer
- Dawn Eltham
- Mollie Eltham

Your support helps us continue our work in the community and keep the spirit of the Royal British Legion strong in Faringdon.

Mission Motorsport - The National Transition Event - 2 March @ Silverstone.

The National Transition Event (NTE) returns for its 7th year on 2nd March 2026, set against the iconic backdrop of Silverstone Racetrack and it’s bigger, bolder, and more empowering than ever.

This year’s theme, “NTE – Celebrating our national asset: the UK’s Armed Forces community,” reflects exactly what this event stands for: recognising your value and supporting you to find THE job, not just a job.

Whether you’re just starting your resettlement journey or you’re a seasoned veteran already exploring your next move, NTE is designed to give you a clear, honest, and objective view of the civilian workplace and the communities that support it. Our aim is simple: to leave you feeling empowered, informed, and confident about your future.

Delivered by Mission Motorsport in association with Mission Community, NTE brings together over 1,900 participants, including Service Leavers, Veterans, Reservists, Cadets (16+), family members, employers, Armed Forces charities, and key decision-makers. You’ll have direct access to organisations such as the Ministry of Defence, Office for Veterans’ Affairs, Gold Alumni Association, and dozens of service charities, all in one place, on one powerful day.

At NTE, you can:

➡️ Network with companies actively recruiting from the Armed Forces community
➡️ Receive honest guidance from trusted sources, including veterans thriving in civilian careers
➡️ Access practical support from a wide range of agencies and services
➡️ Explore sectors, skills, and real opportunities, including automotive and clean energy—industries actively seeking military talent
➡️ Experience the excitement of Mission Motorsport’s Troops’ Track Day, featuring supercar passenger rides on the legendary GP Circuit
➡️ Take part in what’s new for 2026 – the brand-new Cadet Karting Challenge

This isn’t a traditional job fair. It’s a community movement, a platform for meaningful connections, sustainable career development, and discovering what’s truly possible beyond service.

If you’re part of the Armed Forces community and ready to explore your next chapter, with genuine support from people who understand your journey, this is the event for you.

- Share on social media to reach veterans, cadets, reservists, and families

We look forward to welcoming you to Silverstone and helping you take the next confident step forward.

Our Branch Member Secretary has recently completed cancer treatment and is now turning his recovery into something positive!

In February, he’ll be driving to Ukraine to deliver vital medical support for a charity close to his heart. He shared this message with us:

Fundraiser: “I’m raising £4,500 to buy, drive, and deliver evacuation vehicles and portable infant warmers to help save the most vulnerable lives in Ukraine”

As a branch, we are incredibly proud of his resilience, determination, and continued commitment to helping others even while navigating his own recovery.

If you would like to sponsor him or share the fundraising link, your support would mean a great deal. There is absolutely no obligation — simply an opportunity to stand behind one of our own as he takes on this meaningful challenge.

Thank you, as always, for your kindness and community spirit.

🎉 Happy New Year from the Faringdon and District Branch of the Royal British Legion 🎉

As we welcome 2026, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the Faringdon and District Branch throughout 2025. Your kindness, commitment, and community spirit have made an enormous difference.

This year’s Poppy Appeal was a remarkable example of that generosity. Thanks to the incredible support of the local and surrounding communities, we raised over £24,000 — a truly outstanding achievement that will directly support Veterans and their families.

Whether you volunteered, donated, attended events, or simply helped spread the word, you’ve played a vital part in keeping our branch active, welcoming, and full of purpose. We are deeply grateful.

As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to continue building on this momentum, creating opportunities for connection, remembrance, and service across Faringdon and surrounding areas. We will keep you posted!

Thank you for standing with us.

Here’s to a meaningful, positive, and community‑spirited year ahead.
