I had a lovely visit to see Steve and Jane Page last Sunday as they were taking part in the NGS Open Garden Scheme. You may remember that they gave a fabulous talk back in March all about their native wildflower garden and how and why they created it.
It was lovely to see the garden full of wildlife and people who attend our Wilder Fareham group.

This is very sad news especially after Autumnwatch was axed a few years ago. It will be replaced with a weekly programme called Naturewatch but I expect that it won't be anywhere near as entertaining as the rest of The Watches. Thankfully Springwatch will continue in 2027 and hopefully into the future too.
The need for people to be more informed about how special and amazing nature is has never been greater in our nature completed countries.

This is very sad news for Farlington Marshes and all of the birds that rely on it to nest and raise their young. We hope that the problem with the tidal flap can be rectified permanently very soon.

An internationally important nature reserve in Hampshire is under threat from failing flood defences.

Great to see that we have some great bustard chicks that have hatched recently.

Thank you to everyone who attended our bat walk last night. It was absolutely perfect weather wise and with the full moon we could see where we were going in the dark easier. We recorded 5 different types of bats, common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle, daubentons, long eared bat and serotine. The tawny owls were lovely to hear too.

It's stag beetle season again! These magnificent creatures spend many years underground munching through decaying wood, they emerge for the last part of their life to find a mate and create future generations of stag beetles.
