This is very sad news for Farlington Marshes and all of the birds that rely on it to nest and raise their young. We hope that the problem with the tidal flap can be rectified permanently very soon.

An internationally important nature reserve in Hampshire is under threat from failing flood defences.

Great to see that we have some great bustard chicks that have hatched recently.

Well hello there little one!

We went through over 8500 trail camera photos to spot this very well camouflaged chick hiding in plain sight…

Can you see it?

Thank you to everyone who attended our bat walk last night. It was absolutely perfect weather wise and with the full moon we could see where we were going in the dark easier. We recorded 5 different types of bats, common pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle, daubentons, long eared bat and serotine. The tawny owls were lovely to hear too.

It's stag beetle season again! These magnificent creatures spend many years underground munching through decaying wood, they emerge for the last part of their life to find a mate and create future generations of stag beetles.
Don't forget to record your sightings on the following link

Take part in the Great Stag Hunt. Seen a stag beetle? Tell us via this simple survey so we can build a national picture of how stag beetles are doing.

Just spotted this gorgeous mullein moth caterpillar munching on my verbascum. The caterpillars are stunning but sadly turn into a slightly boring moth!! They're all welcome in my garden though.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along and made our bug hotel workshop so successful today. I think its fair to say that everyone had a great time and went home with big smiles ( and fabulous newly created bug hotels)

Bees are amazing. Did you know there are more than 270 types of bee in the UK? They help grow one in every three bites of food we eat. Bees are a big part of nature and they need our help to survive. 💛

Thank you very much to Megan Sice for such an informative and eye opening talk on the parasitic plants of Portsdown Hill. It was fascinating to discover how these unusual species play their part in the ecosystem and help keep our chalk grassland in balance. Im sure everyone will be feeling very inspired to visit Portsdown Hill to see some of these plants for themselves.

Fabulous bird walk tonight in Warsash with all sorts of interesting weather. Despite the less than perfect weather conditions, we recorded 37 different bird species including a group of 6 or 7 swifts that flew overhead as we were sheltering from the hailstones!
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped us to record so many different species.
