The Rainbow Centre Providing Conductive Education and support for children and adults with neurological conditions

The Rainbow Centre is a wonderful Fareham-based charity that supports children with Cerebral Palsy and adults with MS, Parkinson’s and those recovering from a stroke. We have traditionally used a positive system of learning called ‘Conductive Education’ that focuses on what individuals are able to do in order to become active, happy and proud of their achievements. The aim is for our children to f

ulfil their potential and meet the challenges in life that most of us overcome without a thought. We are now expanding our adult service to help people with other motor impairment disabilities and are using the Conductive Education practices to enhance neurological enablement - helping people to find different and easier ways to do things learning or re-learning lost or hard to do life independence skills. Receiving almost no statutory funding, The Rainbow Centre depends upon the generosity of the local community to provide the majority of the £45,000 a month running costs. Our support comes in a variety of forms from one-off donations to charity balls and challenge events and we now have a new scheme of bursaries and scholarships available to provide for a group of children of varying needs. A proud milestone for the Rainbow Centre!

We are delighted to announce that the Rainbow Centre has been officially recognised as a Designated Institute of Practice for the Andras Peto Faculty of Semmelweis University.

This means that students from the Faculty will be able to complete practice placements with us, gaining valuable experience of conductive practice in the UK and further strengthening the links between our organisations and countries.

On 13 June, we were honoured to receive this recognition at the Hungarian Embassy in London. The event featured welcome addresses from H.E. Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Ambassador of Hungary. The Designated Institute for Practice ceremony was conducted by Dr. Andrea Zsebe, Dean of the András Pető Faculty.

This was not only a proud moment for the Rainbow Centre, but also a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow professionals who graduated from Semmelweis University and now practise across the UK. The event highlighted the strength of our international conductive community and the importance of collaboration in supporting future generations of conductors.

We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and excited about the opportunities ahead. We look forward to welcoming students from Hungary and continuing to build connections that strengthen our profession across borders.

Meet Darcie
A bright, joyful soul who’s been part of our Rainbow Centre family since she was one. Through Conductive Education, she’s grown in confidence, independence, and everyday skills - always with that beautiful smile.
Now back with us as an adult, Darcie continues to thrive, building strength, focus and confidence every week.
Her mum recently shared a lovely message with us:
“Thank you for all you do for Darcie -she is loving the sessions there.”
This feedback is deeply valued by our team.
We’re so proud of how far she’s come - and so excited for what’s next

Independence looks different for everyone and every achievement matters.

At The Rainbow Centre, our Adult Services sessions are about so much more than exercise. They’re about confidence, friendships, motivation and building skills that support everyday life.

Whether it’s improving mobility, increasing communication, building strength, or simply enjoying being part of a supportive community. We are proud to celebrate every motion forward.

Our conductive education programmes help adults with neurological conditions work towards goals that matter to them at their own pace, with encouragement every step of the way.

✨ Pollyanna & Conductive Education ✨

Pollyanna joined our Centre at just three years old, beginning her journey in Conductive Education with a focus on motor skills, communication, social interaction, and independence 💛

From needing support to roll, sit, and take steps—look at her now! She can sit independently, crawl to explore her environment, stand with growing confidence, and walk with support. Most importantly, she’s blossomed into a determined, curious, and joyful little girl with a heart of gold 🌟

🎯 Through Conductive Education, Pollyanna has built confidence, resilience, and the ability to actively participate in everyday life—turning challenges into achievements, one step at a time.

💬 “It is so important for her to have consistent input… it helps us to believe in her skills too.” — Pollyanna’s mum

Her journey shows what’s possible when children are given the right support, belief, and opportunity 🌈

Meet Ken, One of the newest faces in our Parkinson’s group, already making amazing progress!
After just 5 sessions, Ken shared some brilliant news… he’s learned how to better control the tremor in his hands

By keeping his thumbs gently away from his palms and pressing through the middle knuckles, he can noticeably reduce the shaking - and it’s already improving his day-to-day life!

These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do!
