The Jallow Foundation the Gambia

The Jallow Foundation the Gambia We are a non-profit making organisation set up to provide help and assistance to the most needy and vulnerable in The Gambia. Charity number: XT28094

The Gambian people, particularly those living in the provinces are very poor and it is a daily struggle for them to find money to feed their families, some days an impossibility. Subsistance farming is the main occupation and this is only possible during the three or so months of the rainy season when fields are prepared, crops sown and subsequently harvested. This harvest then has to last until t

he next rainy season which invariably it does not, resulting in families not having enough food. Unemployment is high through lack of training and education both of which are unafforable without help. Health facilities are inadequate and far away hence people often die young, particularly from things like malaria, often because there is no money for medicine or transport is not available to get the sick to a hospital. Please feel free to contact us for further information and ways of how you can help, every little bit of assistance will help those who are unable to help themselves. Gambian people want to work and provide for themselves but without help to pull themselves out of the poverty trap, are unable to do so. With just a little help they can do this. Help us to help them.

The death in custody of Walid Daqqah, a 62-year-old Palestinian writer who was the longest-serving Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails after 38 years of imprisonment, is a cruel reminder of Israel’s disregard for Palestinians’ right to life: http://amn.st/6182wXU1a
