GCSE Results Day can bring a whole mix of emotions — excitement, relief, disappointment, pride or worry. Sometimes, it can be all of these at once.

Whatever your results look like today, remember that there is more than one route to where you want to go, and things can change along the way.

If things haven’t gone the way you hoped, it’s okay to feel disappointed. If you’re celebrating, it’s okay to feel proud. There is no single “right” way to feel about your results, and no one path you have to follow.

At The Moving on Project, we’re here to support young people aged 11–25 through life’s ups and downs. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now.

Take a breath, give yourself time to process how you’re feeling, and remember that today is one step in a much picture.

From everyone at The Moving on Project, well done for getting here.

Results day can bring a lot of different emotions.

For some young people, today will be a day of celebration. For others, the results may not be what they hoped for. Some might feel relieved, disappointed, proud, worried, excited — or a mixture of all of these.

If today hasn't gone the way you wanted, try not to make it mean something about your worth or your future. One set of results doesn't define you, and there are often more options than it might feel like right now.

And if you're celebrating, enjoy it. You’ve worked hard and you deserve to feel proud.
Whatever today looks like for you, be kind to yourself. Talk to someone you trust if you need to. Sometimes you don't need someone to fix things — you just need someone to listen.

International Youth Day 2026
Different Contexts. Common Aspirations.
Every young person's story is different.
Some are navigating anxiety or low mood. Others are coping with bereavement, family breakdown, bullying, domestic abuse or the lasting impact of trauma. Some are young carers, care leavers or growing up in communities where opportunities can feel limited.
While their circumstances may differ, their aspirations are often the same.
To feel safe. To be listened to. To have confidence in themselves. To build positive relationships. To believe they have a future worth looking forward to.
At The Moving On Project, we know that counselling can't always change a young person's circumstances. What it can do is provide a safe, confidential space where they feel heard, understood and supported to make sense of what they're going through.
This International Youth Day, we're celebrating the strength, resilience and potential of every young person, whatever their background or experience.
Because different contexts should never limit a young person's hopes for the future.

Friday Feedback

Counselling can't always change what's happening in a young person's life.

Family difficulties, school pressures, or other challenges may still be there when a session ends. But having someone who will listen without judgement, help make sense of difficult feelings, and remind them they're not facing things alone can make a real difference.

Sometimes that means feeling more able to cope. Sometimes it means feeling more confident. And sometimes, it simply means being able to see that the future might hold more than what they're experiencing today.

We're grateful to the young people who share their feedback with us.

We work with young people from Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, if you want to find out more contact us on: 01329822331 or [email protected]

Thankful Thursday

We're delighted to share that The Moving On Project has been awarded £45,000 over three years from Postcode Society Trust, thanks to players of Postcode Lottery UK .

This funding will help us continue providing counselling and emotional wellbeing support to young people, giving them a safe place to talk and access support when they need it.

We're incredibly grateful to Postcode Society Trust and everyone who plays Postcode Lottery UK. Your support will help us continue being there for young people across our communities over the next three years.

Thank you for believing in the work we do and the young people we support.

44 INITIAL MEETINGS

That's 44 opportunities for a young person to sit down with someone who will listen without judgement.

Sometimes it's the first time they've spoken about what's been going on. Sometimes they don't know where to start. That's okay.

Our role is to provide a safe space, listen, and help them decide what support is right for them.

In June, we were able to offer that opportunity to 44 young people. We couldn't do it without the support of our community.

119 young people. 119 stories. 119 reasons why our work matters.

In June 2026, we supported 119 young people through counselling and emotional wellbeing support.

Behind every number is a young person who has asked for help, found a safe space to talk, and took a step towards feeling more confident, more resilient, and more hopeful.

We're proud to be there for young people when they need someone to listen, without judgement.

Thank you to everyone who supports The Moving On Project. Together, we're helping young people build brighter futures, one conversation at a time.

SUMMER CHALLENGE

Your summer doesn't have to be packed with big adventures to be meaningful.
Sometimes the biggest wins are the ones that help you grow.

This Summer Holiday Highlights worksheet is your chance to reflect on what makes you feel good, build your confidence, and celebrate the moments that matter most.

This summer, challenge yourself to:
• Try something new or learn a new skill.
• Spend time with people who make you feel good.
• Step outside your comfort zone.
• Make memories you'll be proud of.
• Take time for yourself and your wellbeing.

At the end of the holidays, look back at everything you've achieved – no matter how big or small. Every positive step counts. Download the worksheet, fill it in as you go, and see just how much you've grown by the time school or college starts again.
What will your Summer Holiday Highlights look like?

We always look forward to feedback Friday.

Today we are looking at how counselling can help build confidence.

Confidence isn't something you're born with. It grows when someone listens, believes in you, and gives you the space to find your own voice.

For many young people, counselling isn't about having all the answers. It's about building the confidence to face everyday challenges, speak up when something doesn't feel right, and believe in themselves again.

This feedback from one of our young clients is a reminder of why early support matters.

"It has helped me overcome challenges I had in my day-to-day life and I feel more confident in my house, myself and speaking up about things that are bothering me."
— Client, aged 16

Every conversation has the potential to make a difference.
