The Rock Pool Project

The Rock Pool Project We are a South West-based social enterprise that encourages people of all ages to discover the incredible marine life found around our beautiful coast.

This World Ocean Day, we’re celebrating our community of rock pool obsessives and coastal protectors.

From the tiniest periwinkle to the sharks patrolling the reefs below, every species is part of the same story - and rock pools are where that begins. They are nurseries, feeding grounds and refuges, packed with life that connects to the wider ocean.

Every species you record helps us understand and protect that world.

Thank you for everything you do for our shores. 💙

A huge thank you to everyone already verifying - you're helping determine the winners. 🙏

Alien or anemone?

This beadlet anemone is living up to it’s name, with bright blue beads (known as acrorhagi) beneath it’s tentacles! These beads contain stinging cells used to fight over territory.
