We believe that with every fibre of who we are.
This Pride Month, we want to speak directly to our trans friends, clients, and colleagues: you are seen, you are valued, and you absolutely belong here.

We know this is a difficult time. The recent Supreme Court ruling and the legal changes that have followed mean that trans people in the UK are facing some of the most significant challenges to their rights in years.

But here at Riverside, nothing has changed.

Our commitment to every single person in our care and on our team remains exactly what it has always been unconditional, unwavering, and rooted in genuine respect for who you are.

Pride Month often brings rainbow logos, supportive hashtags, and messages about love and inclusion.

And while visibility matters, true allyship has always been about more than words.

At Riverside Support Service Ltd, we believe inclusion is something you live, not something you post.

There’s a difference between saying people are safe with you and actively creating spaces where they truly feel safe, respected, empowered, and free to be themselves.

For us, allyship looks like listening without judgement.

Last Friday was filled with inspiration from In The Room Collective - Business Events in Cornwall

Although we unfortunately had to leave early due to a work emergency, we still had the opportunity to listen to Perry Hughes speak about his experience in Sweden with Wim Hof, an experience that completely changed his life.

We are always learning, growing, and looking at new ways to support wellbeing, both for ourselves and the people we support. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of mindset, self-care, and taking time to reconnect with ourselves.

Small steps every day lead to big changes over time. 💜

In care, we understand this better than most. Progress doesn't always look dramatic. It doesn't always announce itself. Sometimes it's the first morning someone gets dressed independently again.

A conversation that flows a little more easily than it did last week. A smile that comes a little quicker. A moment of confidence where there was once uncertainty.

These are the steps we celebrate at Riverside. The quiet ones. The small ones.
The ones that might seem ordinary to the outside world but mean everything to the person taking them - and to the people who love them.

Person-centred care isn't about rushing anyone toward a destination. It's about walking alongside each individual at their own pace, honouring where they are today, while gently supporting who they're becoming.

Older adults, those living with long-term health conditions, and young children can find it much harder to regulate their body temperature in the heat, and they may not always ask for help.

A knock at the door, a quick phone call, or a cool drink can make a real difference. 💜

☀️ With the warm weather here, we want to make sure everyone in our Riverside family stays safe and well.

If you or someone you support takes antidepressants, it's really important to know that some medications including Sertraline, Citalopram and Fluoxetine can affect how your body handles heat. This can increase the risk of dehydration and heatstroke.

Our top tips this week:
🌡️ Stay indoors between 11am – 3pm
💧 Drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol
👗 Wear loose, breathable clothing
🚫 Never stop medication without speaking to your GP first.

Your health and wellbeing always comes first. If you have any concerns, please speak to your care team or GP. 💜
