WHEN DISTANCE IS A CHALLENGE, EMPOWERED HEALTH WORKERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
For many communities living in remote areas, accessing healthcare comes with unique challenges. At Manyama Rural Health Centre in Siavonga District, healthcare delivery requires commitment and resilience, as the facility serves an island community where water transport is the main means of reaching patients and conducting outreach activities.
For Joseph Chilambwe, a clinician at Manyama Rural Health Centre, providing care means finding solutions despite geographical barriers.
Through the Virtual Doctors Arclight Training, Joseph was equipped with practical skills and tools to support the diagnosis and management of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions among patients at his facility.
“With the coming of the Arclight, we have benefited significantly as Manyama Rural Health Centre because we have been able to identify and also treat conditions concerning the ENT,” Joseph shares.
Beyond the Arclight, Joseph also highlights the value of having access to clinical support through the Virtual Doctors app, which enables healthcare workers to seek advice, refer complex cases, and receive responses from doctors when managing patients.
“With the coming of the Virtual Doctors app, we have been able to refer conditions and have been responded back, which has helped us in our management of our clients and patients,” he explains.
