When you're raising a child with additional support needs, so much of what you do simply becomes part of everyday life.

The appointments, the paperwork, the sleepless nights, the constant planning, advocating, researching and fighting to make sure your child gets what they need.

You don't necessarily stop and think of yourself as a carer.

You're just Mum. Or Dad. Doing what needs to be done. 💜

But did you know that recognising your caring role could open the door to support, advice and services you might not even realise are available to you?

Join our 4-week Supporting Your Young Person Through Anxiety and Stress - Parent Support Group open to any parent or caregiver who wants to explore the emotional challenges children and young people face today and learn practical strategies to support their wellbeing. 💚

This Support Group offers the opportunity to:

✅ Understand anxiety in children and young people
✅ Learn practical ways to support a child or young person who may be struggling
✅ Recognise how parental anxiety can impact family dynamics
✅ Explore common issues affecting young people including social anxiety and sleep difficulties

The programme helps parents build confidence in recognising and responding to anxiety, whilst also reflecting on how their own responses and worries can influence their child's experience, all within a supportive and inclusive environment. 🫂

This course is completely free and open to residents of Falkirk & District.

We're delighted to welcome Central Advocacy Partners (CAP) to our next session.

Bob Thomson, Advocacy Worker, will explain what independent advocacy is, who CAP supports, and the different groups and projects they offer for learning disabled and autistic people aged 16+ across Falkirk.

You'll also learn why people contact CAP, how advocacy differs from services such as social work and healthcare, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

3 in 5 people in the UK will become carers at some point in their lives.

Becoming a carer can happen overnight. A loved one may develop a long-term illness. A child may be born with a disability. Suddenly, you're a carer without ever having planned for it.

Our new research ‘Caring in 2035’ warns that the UK's future supply of unpaid carers may not keep pace with growing demand.10.3m people will need care by 2050, up from 8.4m in 2025.

This isn't someone else's issue. It could be you, your mum, brother, or child who needs care in the future.

Caring is a wonderful part of human life, but unsupported care that leaves people isolated and having to juggle everything themselves can have a devastating impact.
