RISE Forth Valley

RISE Forth Valley We're a progressive group of individuals & families who use their lived experiences to support others To learn more, visit https://www.almasaar.org/

Al Masaar SCIO seeks to advance education through offering educational activities and training opportunities. Our focus is on programs that help these communities network, build their soft skills, and embrace their talents. This supports their mission to empower ethnic minority communities as a whole and their participation in wider society. We aim to help ethnic minority communities across Forth

Valley Area, Scotland, with our reach extending far beyond this online. We support several aspects of life from helping people who are isolated- either new to the area or because of household circumstances- deliver sports and wellbeing activities for children and young people, and giving out a lot of information, as well as connecting people who need support. Our members include those who have experienced exclusion, abuse, or trauma, for example survivors of domestic abuse, victims of racism and discrimination, those impacted poor mental health and also parents of autistic children.

RISE Forth Valley welcomes the Falkirk Community Planning Partnership’s commitment to fairness, equality and tolerance.

It is positive to see local organisations clearly say that racism, discrimination and hatred are not acceptable, and that everyone in Falkirk should feel safe, respected and included.

At the same time, we know that racism is a real issue in Falkirk and across Scotland. Words are important, but they must be backed up by action. Real change means listening to communities, challenging discrimination when it happens, and making sure services treat everyone fairly.

RISE Forth Valley believes in inclusion, respect and bringing people together. We look forward to working with local partners to turn these commitments into practical action and to help build a community where everyone belongs.

Please show your support by leaving a positive comment on the Councils Facebook post. The more good comments, the more we are heard.

The Falkirk Community Planning Partnership has published a joint statement reaffirming support for an inclusive Falkirk, where everyone is treated with respect.

It brings together communities, public services, the third sector and businesses across the area.

Everybody has a part to play and has the right to feel safe.

If you see hate crime taking place, or are a victim, please report it.

This includes people shouting abuse, intimidation, harassment as well as threatening and/or becoming physically violent.

There is no space for hate in our community.

In partnership with Police Scotland, we created a Hate Crime Toolkit. Designed to provide guidance on what to do if you experience or witness a hate crime, this document contains info on:

▶️How to report hate crime
▶️Third party reporting
▶️Dealing with the impact of hate crime
▶️The support available to help you

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Saadia Ahad, our former CEO of Al Masaar.

Saadia was one of the hardest-working individuals, especially during a particularly challenging time with resilience, commitment, and deep compassion.

Saadia was also part of the Carers Project team for Al Masaar, where she supported many carers from the South Asian community.

Her dedication to Al Masaar and the project and well-being of others will always be remembered and appreciated by all who had the privilege of working with her.

She leaves behind her husband and two young children. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
