The event will focus on supporting and remembering our Armed Forces community, while also exploring Scotland’s proud military heritage and the lasting legacy of the Somme.
Residents and visitors will hear presentations from three respected organisations:
• SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity, providing lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.
• The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Museum, sharing the rich history and traditions of one of Scotland’s most famous regiments.
• The Acre Somme Association, highlighting remembrance work connected to the Battle of the Somme and the sacrifices made during the First World War.

Carronshore Heritage Forum Wins Central FM "You Make a Difference Award"

Members of Carronshore Heritage Forum are celebrating after winning the prestigious Central FM "You Make a Difference Award", recognising the positive impact the organisation has made within the local community.

The award is particularly special for the Forum as it marks the first time the charity has ever been nominated in the nine years since it was constituted in 2017.

Representatives of the Forum attended the awards ceremony, where they were honoured alongside a range of individuals and organisations from across Central Scotland who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

Carronshore Heritage Forum was established by a small group of local residents with a shared vision of preserving the history of Carronshore while bringing people together through community events and projects. Since then, the organisation has grown into a well-respected local charity, delivering a wide range of initiatives including the installation of the Carronshore War Memorial, commemorative events, community coffee presentations, heritage projects, educational displays, festive celebrations and activities aimed at reducing social isolation.

Speaking after receiving the award, Chair John McLuckie said:

"We are absolutely delighted and humbled to receive this award. To be recognised by Central FM and the wider community is a tremendous honour. The fact that this was our first-ever nomination makes it even more special."

"Like many great ideas, Carronshore Heritage Forum began with a conversation over a pint between local people who wanted to make a difference in their village. We could never have imagined how far that idea would grow."

The Forum paid tribute to its seven trustees, dedicated volunteers and the residents of Carronshore whose continued support has enabled the organisation to flourish over the past nine years.

"This award belongs to everyone who has supported us along the way," added Mr McLuckie. "From our volunteers and local businesses to the residents who attend our events and support our projects, this recognition is for the whole community."

Over the years, Carronshore Heritage Forum has secured significant external funding for community projects and has become a focal point for local heritage, remembrance and community engagement.

Winning the Central FM "You Make a Difference Award" is a fitting recognition of nearly a decade of voluntary effort and community spirit, and the Forum looks forward to continuing its work for the benefit of Carronshore and future generations.
