I’m proud to have tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament recognising the incredible work of Friends of Dawson Park in bringing our community together and improving local facilities.👏

Their successful partnerships with Coo Park United, Grahamston Community Football Club, and Bainsford War Memorial have made a real difference—securing £500,000 from Falkirk Council’s Regeneration Fund to enhance Dawson Park Playpark, install CCTV, and improve public safety.

Beyond that, their work in promoting local heritage and biodiversity through UK Government and National Lottery funding is a testament to the power of grassroots action. Local groups like Friends of Dawson Park are changing lives.

Friends of Dawson Park in partnership with Falkirk Council are renewing the play area in Dawson Park, currently the old equipment is being removed and the site cleared ready for the chosen play provider Wicksteed to start installing the new play equipment at the beginning of September, unfortunately most of the play area will be closed for the duration of the works which are expected to be completed by early October. Friends of Dawson Park raised £45,000 through the Environmental Board of Scotland and the council put in the balance of around £55,000.

During the works it is hoped that a small section of the play area that is being retained which is only suitable for toddlers will remain open for use and can be accessed from the main entrance on Davids Loan.”
