Here is something a little different. Last night at the concert at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock...The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland were presented with a hand painted Rosenbauer helmet...with their crest on one side...and the badges of Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and SFB Heritage Trust Official on the other. This will hopefully sit alongside a SmokeEater_Art lid that they recieved a number of years ago.

This is the 2nd of 2 lids that made their way to Aberdeen this week....a personal commission for a retired Station Commander to sit alongside his other commission.

This beast of a Glengoyne lid ...(which is the closest distillery to where i was drought up)....weighs in at over 10kg....and a iid that size was needed to depict the images requested.

All appliances are in legacy Grampian white.....unique to the area....showing 2 high reach appliances and a Rescue Pump that the new owner drove before going off the run & reaching the rank of Station Commander

Below that is the Grampian Fire and Rescue badge they wire during the majority of their active service

Just because you reach a certain rank doess not mean you cannot treat yourself to a bespoke lid...and as I've shown....2 lids to commemorate years of active service.

I hope yhe nee owner has a long and happy retirement.

I dont usually post when on holiday....but 2 lids arrived at their new owner & deserve my particular attention.

When you reach a rank above that on the appliance you will struggle to see bespoke retiral lids.....but this person not only treated themselves to one...but two lids to remember the years they served on the front line.

The first helmet shows 2 helmets....a Cairm and ....Fire to Station Commander....above that at 3 badges....Grampian Fire Brigade....Grampian Fire and Rescue...(to which there are 2...but the new owner was very specific as to which were their badge)..and a Scottish Fire and Rescue badge..

Below that, show Station Commander impellers...their ribbon bar for their Service...and tally bar with dates in & out.

After numerous conversations I can confidently say that this person was a "gaffer" that had the respect of crews and wanted a reminder of their time in the job.

This bespoke lid was handed over at Dunblane tonight to celebrate 21 years service between Central Scotland Fire and Rescue...and Scottish Fire and Rescue.
Shown are the 2 badges worn during the new owner's service....plus an IVECO appliance..(not painted one of those yet so I can add it to the list..😁)....and a Rosenbauer UK helmet......with a Ford Ranger & Polaris reflected in the visor.

Setting it off is a one off tally with dates in & out.

Thanks again to Findlay Lockhart for once again trusting SmokeEater_Art to make a bespoke retiral gift.

This unique lid was handed over yesterday and was more of a challenge than first appears..

My good friend Findlay Lockhart who has commissioned work previously set quite the challenge for this piece for

1/ could I find a lid that retained some green colour on it to reflect the bowling green....✔️
2/ could I paint 3 particular bowls...giving them some depth....(do you know pink is not a model paint colour..🤦‍♂️) ✔️
3/ paint the club crest & year it was founded...(do you know lilac is also a colour you can't find in model paint 😳) ✔️

Challenge was accepted & ....after trial and error to get the right paint colour mix....was successfully completed.

Sometimes i make things just for the hell of it.....no customer.... and no idea what I'm going to do with it once I am done.
I was given another MSA Safety Fire EMEA Gallet helmet....and I wondered how many Scottish iconic items.. faces...phrases..or places I could put on it...and this is the result.
Portraits are not my forte...but i couldn't leave the Big Yin out....and added Rabbie Burns, Chris Hoy & Andy Murray....not forgetting McTominay's bicycle kick.

Forth Rail Bridge, the Finnieston Crane, the Falkirk Wheel, the Kelpies and the Wallace Monument make an appearance.

Oor Wullie, Irn Bru, Tennents l***r, a Tunnocks teacake...a Saltire..the Lion Rampant..Nessie...the Duke with a cone...a Highland Coo....a thistle...and a nice malt are also seen....alongside a few notable phrases.

All work is hand painted...I've yet to master air brushing..🤦‍♂️

Might be tempted to tinker a little more....i always am....but here is my latest piece for your consideration...😂
