This morning's task saw the FACT team cutting back, clearing and litter picking the footpaths to Goggs Mill ready for next Sunday's duck and raft races.

08/06/2026

We are planning a task for this Sunday, 14 June, 9.30-12.00. Meet at Goggs Mill Bridge (some car parking available). We are planning to tidy up the footpath from Hall Staithe to Goggs Mill and, time permitting, from Bridge Farm to Goggs Mill in readiness for the Duck and Raft Race on the following Sunday, 21 June. Also there may be some litter picking in the area too. Given the time of year we will remain mindful of any nesting birds which may be in the area (including ground nesting ones) during this task. Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

We are planning a task this Sunday 31 May, 9.30-12.00. Meet at the 'parking' area off the crossroad at the Bullock Hills in Hempton. This is another area we have been targeting for a few years with Himalayan Balsam bashing. Have some sturdy gloves and bear in mind likely to be nettles/brambles so dress accordingly. The warm weather looks like cooling a little by the weekend but just a reminder to bring any sun hats/sun cream/water you may need. Teas and coffees as usual of course. Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

We are planning a task for this Sunday, 10 May, 9.30-12.00. Meet in Aldiss Park Car Park (off Hempton Road, behind Fakenham Tyres) for some Himalayan Balsam Bashing along the River Wensum - this is in the area we have worked on in previous years - the river bank after the foot bridge down towards the abattoir. As there are likely to be nettles/brambles present be prepared by wearing clothing to cover arms/legs. A pair of sturdy gloves are recommended too.
Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

This morning the FACT gang fixed up a very soggy section of footpath leading from Valley Way/Plantation Road towards Three Brick Arches. Hopefully this work will help make the route more accessible in wet conditions.

24/04/2026

We are planning a task for this Sunday, 26 April 9.30-12.00. Meet at the Wishing Well off Valley Way (there is very limited car parking here as it is a residential area). The pathway down from the electricity substation to where is turns to pass under the Three Brick Arches is often waterlogged so we are hoping to edge up the path with logs/branches at site (fallen ones in the main as we are mindful of not cutting anything down whilst birds are nesting) and to in fill with some gravel. Tools will be provided, but helpful to have own sturdy /gardening gloves. Hope to see some of you on Sunday. Weather looks fine for us.

We have a task planned for this Sunday, 12 April, 9.30-12.00. Meet close to Williamson's Carpets on the industrial estate (there is a turning area here with limited parking) to litter pick around the path leading into Morrisons, along behind the football ground and around the bottom of the industrial estate. If we can located before Sunday we may also put up some bird nesting boxes in the wooded area on the corner of Smiths Lane. Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

Today is the final day of the Keep Britain Tidy 'Big Spring Clean', so the FACT gang returned to the old railway track off Greenway Lane for some more litter picking.

26/03/2026

To coincide with the Keep Britain Tidy 'Big Spring Clean' campaign -13-29 March- we are planning a litter picking task this Sunday, 29 March, 9.30-12.00. This time we are returning to the old railway track off Greenway Lane; the entrance to the track is opposite the Hungry Horse/Henry IV. Litter pickers and bin bags provided, but it is helpful to have your own gloves (gardening type are usually sturdy enough). Hope to see some of you on Sunday.

14/03/2026

We have no task this Sunday, 15 March, the next one is planned for 29 March. Details nearer the time. Hope to see you then.
