Meet up with local people, in a friendly environment where you can develop your hobbies, work on practical projects or just relax over a cuppa and chat with others. The entrance to Fairford Men's Shed is down a shared tarmac drive, directly opposite Fairford Cricket Ground.

Special Delivery from the Fairford Men’s Shed! 🔨🪴

We recently had the pleasure of delivering five bespoke planters to a lovely mother and son in the community. Our team built three large square planters (900mm) and two massive rectangular ones (1800mm) to help get their garden ready.

Seeing how delighted they were makes all the hard work worth it! In fact, the word is out—we’ve already received another order for raised planters before the sawdust has even settled.

🌲 60 Years of Camp Wood House: The Story of the Bench 🌲

Originally a 1942 RAF hospital, Camp Wood House has served Girlguiding since 1966.

First leased from Sir Thomas Bazley and now from the Ernest Cook Trust (ECT), the house provides woodland experiences for members across Gloucestershire and neighboring counties.

Notable past visitors include HRH Princess Catherine, who stayed here as a Brownie in a Berkshire unit.

To commemorate this 60-year anniversary (1966–2026), a new bench has been installed on the grounds as shown in this handcrafted image by the Fairford & District Men’s Shed, the project was funded by donations from many friends and supporters.

The plaque reads:
"This Bench was made by Fairford & District Men's Shed
to Celebrate 60 Years of Camp Wood House with Thanks from Donations from many friends and supporters 1966 - 2026"

A Trophy Worth Replicating 🏆

A few weeks ago, the Fairford Men's Shed received a memorable visit. Heather Hicks and Rosemary Blundell from the Cirencester & District Ladies Skittles Club walked in clutching a trophy they proudly display at their club.

Their request was straightforward: could we replicate this trophy so their team players could take one home?
We inspected the prize, ready for the challenge, and read the inscription:

"Cirencester & District Ladies Skittles Section 'B' Losers"

The Shed immediately erupted with laughter. We appreciate a team that owns their title with such good humour. Sourcing a traditional 13cm skittle ball proved surprisingly expensive, so the brother-in-law of one of the shedders stepped in and produced a 3D print of the skittle ball instead. As you can see, the ladies have proudly collected their high-tech, sin-smashing replica "Losers" trophy. 🪵⚒️
