Today marked the end of 6 amazing years as East of England region Trustee/Council member for the College of Paramedics.

It's been an absolute privilege to represent my region and gave me incredible opportunity to develop the profession and organisation.

When I took on the role, the region had 365 full members. Helen Hardy, the newly elected Council member now takes on the representation of over 1,600 full members. As a result of such strong membership numbers, we saw an incredible turnout for the Council Member elections, the highest number the organisation has ever seen for this role.

Many congratulations to Helen who will take it from here. Thank you for your support and coming to say hello at conferences and university visits. It's been an absolute honour 🎖.

Feeling great about returning to face to face conferences again. Spoken to lots of members and people interested in joining the College of Paramedics. Fantastic conference put on by the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

Seems to be a number of NQPs and students who don't know a lot about the professional body. We are aware our engagement with HEIs has been significantly affected during the pandemic.

If you would like more information about joining visit www.collegeofparamedics.co.uk or email [email protected].

The College of Paramedics has considered the UK government’s proposed ban on so-called ‘conversion therapy’, which as it stands, excludes trans people.

It is the College’s view that all members of the LGBT+ community should be included in conversion therapy bans and anything less is simply unacceptable. We stand with our transgender colleagues, friends and families against this proposal and echo the words of NHS England that all forms of conversion therapy are “unethical and potentially harmful” and could have profound consequences for adults and children struggling with gender dysphoria.

We acknowledge the impact this proposed removal of trans rights would have when the rights of all should be guaranteed under the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in particular, signatory States have a legal obligation to ‘protect individuals from homophobic and transphobic violence and prevent torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment’.

There can be no LGB without the T.

Our last face to face regional conference was 3 years ago today at the University of Bedfordshire. In 2020 we were just a couple of weeks away from delivering a really exciting conference at the University of Suffolk before Covid caused it to be cancelled.

If you're interested in developing CPD opportunities, the regional conference and supporting local membership, consider becoming a workplace liaison, Student Council representative or the Eastern Region Council member.
