A personal post for the first day of World Alzheimer's Month.

John, husband of COSY Routes creator Jo Earlam, is back home this weekend after an extended care home respite stay in recent months, following emergency hospital admission.

Jo and family friend, dementia advocate, and lead of Exeter Dementia Action Alliance Gina Awad, are passionate about raising awareness of dementia, hence the Celebrating Memories event taking place on Sunday 28th September, venue Exeter Science Park.

Please do join us for an informal get together, walk and run options on the route, or just mingle, chat, and enjoy a coffee and cake.

Let's celebrate memories this World Alzheimer's Month šŸ’œ

Free registration on the below link will secure a commemorative medal.

A group of Exeter Dementia Action Alliance supporters will be carrying our 'Celebrating Memories' baton on a route around Exeter city centre tomorrow, Sunday 8th September, taking it to care homes and other project sponsors. We'll be remembering people who lived and live with dementia, also our late Queen Elizabeth, on the second anniversary of her death. The walk will end on Cathedral Green at 12 noon with a minute's silence to pay our respects to all. This event is part of the Alliance's awareness raising for World Alzheimer's Month. We'll be going ahead despite the forecast of rain. Pictures, videos, and news of sponsors to be uploaded in coming days.

Sharing this slightly belated write-up on our website about the recent walk with Andy Turner of Coast and Country Walking and members of his walking group, along route 8 of Exeter Cosy Routes.

Do share your own stories of walking or running our Cosy Routes, we know the website is regularly viewed and routes downloaded - let us know your experience via the website contact page, or messsaging on Facebook to us.

For anyone completing the routes, part or whole, for a small donation, medals are still available, as beautifully modelled here by our faithful canine supporter River.
