We were delighted to be able to support a very special event in Taunton last week, celebrating the graduation of Apprentice Paramedics. It was wonderful to join the graduates, their friends and families, their tutors, and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Apprenticeship team. Well done to everyone who completed the tough 9/11 memorial stair climb, in memory of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. They climbed 110 floors to represent the number of floors firefighters climbed inside the World Trade Centre. They climbed in uniform with operational kit to remember the lives and recognise the courage and sacrifice of those emergency responders.

Emergency Medical Dispatchers Jamie and Zach, said "It was pretty tough with the 10kg on our backs but I think the worst bit was definitely how warm it was."
They would like to thank Snap Fitness UK in Chippenham for their support.

Thanks to Everyone Active Wellington and everyone who took on this challenge there, including Lee, Simon, Sadie and Max.

Their incredible collective efforts have raised over £1150 to support SWASFT staff, thanks to all their donors and supporters.

Zoe and Louise from our Charity team were delighted to attend the Preview of '999 On The Front Line' which has been following the crews of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Charity Bear came too! It was a fantastic event and brilliant to get an insight into what happens behind the scenes.

Crews and control room teams from Bristol, Bridgwater and Taunton tell their fascinating stories over 10 episodes, which you can watch from Sunday 20th September on More4 or Channel 4 On Demand.

13th September is World Sepsis Day - aiming to unite global efforts against sepsis, which is the leading cause of preventable death worldwide.

One of our brilliant supporters, Chris Butler, has been fundraising for the last 4 years in support of our charity and the UK Sepsis Trust, in memory of his best friend Chris Lang ('Langer') who sadly died of sepsis in his 30s, leaving behind family and friends who miss him. Each year their charity football match event brings the community together to have fun and remember him.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. 2,977 lives were lost. Many hundreds of brave, dedicated emergency service personnel risked and sacrificed their lives to save others.

Staff from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust are taking on a 09/11 Memorial Stair Challenge as a mark of respect, climbing 110 floors - representing the number of floors emergency responders climbed inside the World Trade Centre - in uniform, with operational kit, in memory of the emergency responders who went to work that morning and never came home.

They're also raising funds for the South Western Ambulance Charity, helping to support ambulance staff, volunteers and patients, in critical moments.
