Have your say on the services that matter to you

Our Resident Engagement Panel gives residents a direct voice in shaping Cornerstone's services and decision-making.

At our next meeting, panel members will be discussing:

✅ Cornerstone's social housing regulatory standards consultation
✅ Reviewing complaints letters and resident communications
✅ Updates to the Resident Engagement Panel's terms of reference and future role
✅ Feedback on new developments and resident involvement in design
✅ Reviewing our Code of Conduct
✅ Training opportunities for resident volunteers
✅ Looking back at resident events from 2026 and planning for the future

Panel members review policies, resident information, website content and leaflets to make sure they are clear, accessible and meet residents' needs. You can join regularly or take part in a single review if there's a topic that interests you.

📅 Next meeting: Wednesday 26 August 2026
🕒 3:30pm to 6:00pm
📍 Cornerstone's Western Way office (with remote access available on request)

If you'd like to join the next meeting and help make a difference, email [email protected] and we'll send you more information.

Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services have become a popular way to spread the cost of purchases. 💸 They can be a convenient option, but it's important to understand how they work and the potential risks involved.

From this year, Buy Now, Pay Later providers are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The new rules are designed to give consumers greater protection and make sure providers are clear about the products they offer.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Day at Beacon Avenue on Monday 27th July. 🏡🍦

The day began with residents, Cornerstone staff and local partners working together to give the neighbourhood a refresh. Activities included litter picking, window cleaning, gutter clearing and the use of skips to help tidy outdoor spaces. Residents also enjoyed breakfast, tea and coffee while catching up with neighbours and members of the team.

We were grateful for the support of a number of organisations throughout the day, including Exeter City Council Environmental Health, Devon and Cornwall Police, with two local police officers attending, and ServiceMaster Clean, who kindly supported the window and gutter cleaning works.

In the afternoon, we headed over to St Katharine's Priory for a community fun day. Residents enjoyed ice cream, professional face painting and a fantastic art workshop led by local artist Steve McKracken.

The event also provided an opportunity for residents to connect with local organisations and find out more about the support and services available in the community. Thank you to Inclusive Exeter, South West Water, ECOE and all the other partners who joined us and took the time to speak with residents.

Thank you to all the residents who got involved and helped make the day such a success. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

As the summer holidays begin, many families will already be thinking about the cost of preparing for the new school year. 📚

School uniforms can be a significant expense, particularly when combined with the cost of shoes, school bags, PE kits and other essentials. If you're worried about the cost, there may be support available.

If you need help managing back-to-school expenses, Westcountry Savings and Loans has information about support available to families, together with details of its Family Loan, which may help eligible members spread the cost of school-related purchases. 🍎

Open Day at Apsham Grange! 🏡

We’re delighted to invite you to our Open Day on Friday 7th August, from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, where you’ll have the opportunity to view our brand-new four-bedroom shared ownership homes at Apsham Grange.

This is a great chance to explore the development, take a look around the properties, and find out more about how shared ownership could help you take your next step onto the property ladder. Our team will be available throughout the afternoon to answer your questions and provide information about the homes, the application process, and what life at Apsham Grange has to offer.

These attractive new homes are expected to be available from January , so don't miss the opportunity to be among the first to see them.

If you would like to attend, please let us know by emailing the Development Team at [email protected].

We look forward to welcoming you to Apsham Grange.

🚒 Fire Safety Reminder

Do you know the fire procedure for your building?

If you live in a flat with communal areas, please take a few minutes to make sure you understand the fire safety arrangements for your building.

Fire Action Notices are displayed in communal areas and explain what you should do in the event of a fire, including whether your building operates a stay put policy or an evacuation policy.

You can help keep your building safe by:

❗ Keeping corridors, stairways and communal areas clear
❗ Not storing bikes, prams, mobility scooters, furniture or rubbish in shared spaces
❗ Never wedging fire doors open
❗ Reporting any damage to fire doors or other fire safety equipment
❗ Letting us know if you or someone in your household may need support in an emergency

You can find more information about fire safety in the Tenant Handbook:

If you have any questions about fire safety in your building, please contact us on 01392 273462 or email [email protected].

Cooking is one of the most common causes of fires in the home. During the summer, distractions such as visitors, children, outdoor activities and warm weather can make it easier to leave cooking unattended. 🍳

Even stepping away for a few minutes can be enough for a fire to start.
