Getting Outside in Nature
I LOVE Wildlife & Wildernesses. Realising that the job of an ecologist was a revelation and I’ve worked for the RSPB, Birdife in the Caribbean and various conservation organisations abroad. This page is about getting out side in nature: whether running, cycling, kayaking, skipping or hopping- human powered. I would love to hear about your amazing wild encounters too.
I spent my childhood outside in rivers & up trees. I walked 45 miles across Dartmoor in the Ten Tors race when 15 and so began my passion for endurance. My husband and I sailed to the Caribbean, surveyed seabirds and wrote the Seabird Breeding Atlas of the Lesser Antilles.
We circumnavigated South America & then ran the length of South America- 6,504 miles in 15 months while counting birds, writing ecology articles & chatting to schools about running & wildlife. We sailed home with our baby (inc. 2 months at sea non-stop from Brazil to Falmouth).
