πŸ“’ Just a little reminder for our community...

There will be no patient groups next Monday (31st August) as it is the Bank Holiday.

We hope you all have a lovely long weekend and get some well-deserved rest. πŸ’›

Our groups today are as normal and we look forward to seeing you later.

πŸ’› A little reminder today that you matter too.

When you spend so much of your time caring for someone else, it can be easy to forget to look after yourself. But you cannot pour from an empty cup.

Here are a few small things you can do today to nurture your own wellbeing:

🌿 Step outside for a few minutes of fresh air
πŸ“ž Call a friend or someone who makes you smile
β˜• Make yourself a proper cup of tea, coffee, iced latte, and sit down to enjoy it
πŸ“– Read a few pages of something you love
🧘 Take five slow, deep breaths
🌸 Take a moment to be present and find 5 beautiful things around you
You don't need to do anything big.

Small moments of kindness towards yourself add up.

How do you like to take care of yourself? Share your tips in the comments, you might inspire someone else πŸ’™

πŸ₯— A little tip for carers today - don't forget to nourish yourself!

When life is busy and your focus is on someone else, eating well can easily slip down the list. But good food really does make a difference to how we feel, both physically and emotionally.

Did you know that Devon Carers produced a wonderful Carers Cook Book back in 2020? It is full of simple, nutritious recipes designed with carers in mind - quick to make, budget-friendly, and genuinely delicious. A collection of recipes from carers for carers.

If you haven't come across it before, it is well worth a look. Get in touch with Devon Carers to find out more.

Remember - looking after yourself is part of looking after the person you care for. πŸ’›

What a wonderful Carers Get Together we had in June during Carers Week.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were able to treat our carers for all the hard work they put in to caring for loved ones, friends and family.

We look forward to the next one. 🍰

Addiction is often one of those subjects that isn't talked about enough. But, addiction is nothing to be embarrassed about.

It often has a far reaching effect on more than just the individual struggling with the addiction.

For family & friends affected by someone else’s addiction you can find help from Adfam. The website offers information, local support groups and services to help you.

If you are caring for someone with addiction you can also join our carers group on the second Friday of the month.

It is a group of supportive, like-minded individuals that have different caring circumstances but similar struggles and therefore understand each other and can offer their support. You would be most welcome.
