Space Youth Services

Space Youth Services We are a Devon based youth charity, dedicated to unlocking potential in young people.

Space delivers youth work, community projects and other services to ensure young people have the opportunity to succeed. We run 8 open access youth centres in Devon, providing a wide range of activities for 11-19 year olds, run by professional youth workers. Alongside these sessions, we offer online youth sessions, 1-1 support, SEND sessions, community projects, and through our Hybrid school (Chan

ces), we provide short-term alternative education provision for students who are struggling in mainstream school.

Youth work is about more than activities - it's about building futures.
With youth unemployment back on the news and in the spotlight, we're proud of the opportunities SPACE Youth Services provides for young people to gain real-life experience, develop leadership skills and build their confidence for the workplace.

This includes the 53 young people that currently volunteer across our 8 youth centres!

In April, we celebrated volunteers who had contributed a combined 950 hours supporting their peers, with a further 370 hours contributed by those working towards milestone awards – that's 1,320 hours of volunteering in total.

Our young volunteers don't just support sessions. They also:
✅ Help with staff interviews
✅ Assess community grant applications
✅ Take part in consultations
✅ Support events
✅ Improve and redecorate youth centres
✅ Work alongside Devon Wildlife Trust on conservation projects

Through volunteering, leadership opportunities, work experience, internships and apprenticeships, young people are developing the communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills that employers value.

At SPACE we aren't just responding to what's trending - we're already helping young people gain the experience they need to thrive.

Last Thursday young people from across Devon set off together for the 2026 Nightwalk! This time they switched up the theme from Neon to PJ's and North Devon got in on the fun for the first time ever! We are so proud of all the young people who took part and managed to raise over £1000 combined across Devon which will go towards their upcoming summer activities programme!

We'd also like to say a special thank you to LUSH UK Exeter for donating some goodies for our finishers in Mid and East Devon!

“You gave me the push I needed. I wouldn’t have done a lot of things if I didn’t come to youth club. I wouldn’t have applied to the Open University.”

Sometimes, one trusted conversation can change the course of a young person’s future.

At SPACE Youth Services, young people are encouraged to believe in themselves, explore new opportunities and build confidence for adulthood.

Support SPACE Youth Services and help more young people take the next step towards their future.

“Being here has kept me off my phone.”

One young person joined a SPACE SEND session feeling shy and isolated. Over time, they built friendships and confidence through regular social opportunities.

“Now I’m hardly on my phone because I have friends now and I’ve learnt to socialise.”

For many young people with additional needs, opportunities like this are rare. Support SPACE Youth Services and help create spaces where every young person can belong.

A young person involved in anti social behaviour began attending SPACE Youth Services and slowly started to rethink their future.

“At Youth Club I started volunteering with the younger kids. I am now more aware of myself and more responsible.”

With support from youth workers, they moved away from harmful influences and towards positive opportunities.

Youth work is not about giving up on young people. It is about believing in them. Support SPACE Youth Services and help create safer futures for young people and communities.
