Footbridge in town closed for maintenance

A quick heads-up if you use the footbridge between John Lewis Car Park and Sidwell Street: it will be closed temporarily from Monday 20 April while essential engineering works take place.

The car park will stay open, and a safe signed diversion will be in place for pedestrians. The work is expected to last around four weeks, with some lane restrictions on King William Street too. Thanks for bearing with us while this important repair work is carried out.

Armed Forces Day

Hi everyone. We have been offered the chance to bid for some funding to hold an event to support Armed Forces Day.

I have to say this was not on my radar, but the local MP Steve Race wrote to us to say did we want to bid for some funding for an event.

The date is June 27th (or the week leading up to it). ECA are planning the Summer fete for a month later, so this would be an extra event.

This extra event could be anything, a picnic, a display of historical military vehicles, a BBQ, cricket match. you name it. But it has to have that UK armed forces link somewhere.

What we need is some keen people who would like to organise something. I would think people who have some kind of link to the armed forces would be great

We can give that person or group of people support so we are just putting it out there.

Deadline to bid is 30th March. Steve Race says he will help too.

Drop us a DM here or email [email protected] aif you want to organise or help run an event and we can get the ball rolling.
