Last thursday, Cadets from Holsworthy took part in a dramatic casualty simulation exercise as part of their Duke of Edinburgh jouney organised by former Holsworthy NCO Adam Isaac, now a firefighter and paramedic.

The scenario involved a vehicle colliding with New Year’s Eve revellers, leaving multiple casualties with injuries ranging from fractures and head wounds to a trapped patient with a compromised airway. New recruits played distressed bystanders, adding realism and helping cadets develop leadership and communication skills.

Supported by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and four student paramedics, cadets gained valuable hands-on experience working alongside emergency service professionals.

The evening was a great success, with five Bronze Skills sections completed, one Silver Skills section reaching 50% completion, and plenty of opportunities for teamwork, leadership, and community engagement.

Well done to everyone involved for making it such a rewarding and realistic training exercise! 👏

🏅 Representing Devon with Pride!

Back in May, five of our Devon Army Cadets were selected to represent the Army Cadet Force in the Army vs Navy Cadet Fixture 2026!

This was an incredible achievement that reflects exceptional commitment, dedication, and the highest standards of cadet excellence.

To mark their outstanding accomplishment, Major Leigh Rickards (County Sports Officer) presented Col Steve Frost, Commandant of Devon, with a commemorative shirt. A lasting reminder of their contribution to the Army Cadet Force and their representation of Devon ACF on the national stage.

We couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them. They live up to the ACF motto “Inspire to Achieve” 👏👏👏

The countdown to July Exped is on!

Last Sunday, 13 cadets from across Devon took on the challenge of planning their Bronze/2 Star expedition route, ready for July. Because great adventures start with great planning!

5th Devon Tri-Service Cadet Challenge

During the weekend, 5 to 7 June, cadets from across Devon gathered at Okehampton Camp for the 5th annual Tri-Service Cadet Challenge, hosted by Devon ACF.

More than 55 cadets took part, representing Sea and Royal Marine Cadets from Plymouth’s TS Golden Hind, Sea Cadets from TS Torbay, Stonehouse Royal Marines Volunteer Cadets Corps, Exeter School CCF, RAF Air Cadets from Devonport, and B Company Devon ACF.

Despite the wet weather on Saturday, the cadets tackled a wide range of challenges with enthusiasm.

These included responding to a simulated indoor trauma incident, rescuing lost cadets, completing navigation, observation post, and map-reading tasks, taking part in replenishment command exercises, and testing their skills on a laser shotgun range and in tactical virtual reality scenarios.

Activities continued into the evening with special operations memory missions before the weekend concluded on Sunday morning with a series of fun challenges.
Despite the differing levels of experience across the services, the competition was closely fought. TS Golden Hind, RM Cadets, secured the overall win, with Exeter School A Team finishing as runners-up.

The Best Section Commander award was presented to Corporal Ayres of TS Golden Hind, RM Cadets.

A big shout-out to the adult volunteers, who also showed remarkable resilience throughout the difficult conditions, helping to ensure the cadets enjoyed a rewarding and memorable experience.👏👏
