Final competitor information has now been emailed to all registered athletes for the opening round of the SLSGB Surf Series.
Thank you to everyone who has entered. We are looking forward to welcoming athletes from across the country for what promises to be an exciting day of racing.

The latest programme and parking/drop-off map have been circulated to competitors. Registration will open from 08;45, followed by a safety briefing at 09:00 before racing commences. Parents and carers of Next Gen competitors are asked to attend the safety briefing.

Due to entry numbers, the Next Gen divisions will run as straight finals. The Open Men's and Women's divisions will have heats and finals across all disciplines.

Please remember that ocean sport is always subject to conditions. The current forecast is showing strong winds, and we will continue to monitor this closely. Any changes to the programme, race formats, or timings will be communicated through our social media channels.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the beach.

🚩PATROLLING🚩

We’ve seen some brilliant work from clubs this year through our Patrol Logs but we are confident more patrols are happening than logs completed.

The Patrol Logs provide valuable statistics that are shared nationally and contribute to the work of the UK Search and Rescue Committees, helping demonstrate the impact of lifesaving volunteers and supporting wider water safety initiatives that supports our charitable purpose.

You can find our log by simply typing in any search engine - SLSGB Patrol Log.

🤔 Why Patrol? Patrols will save lives.🦸

With recent drowning tragedies across the UK and forecasts suggesting an El Niño weather pattern (warmer climate pattern) later this summer, the need for volunteer patrols has never been greater.

Beyond fulfilling our purpose, patrols create lasting connections within local communities, encourage new members to get involved, and help sustain the strong community spirit that makes SLSGB unique.

💛 Every patrol matters.
🛟 Every volunteer makes a difference.
🌊 Every minute on patrol helps make our waterways safer.

Is your club ready to step up and patrol this summer?

📍 2026 Surf Series Rounds

Round 1 – Super 6 | Porthcawl, South Wales | 6 June

Round 2 – WOS | Fistral, Cornwall | 27 June

Round 3 – Oceanperf Challenge | Portreath, Cornwall | 25 July

🏅 How the Series Works

Athletes earn points in every Surf Series race based on finishing position, with points awarded throughout the field. Race scores combine to create an Event Total, and Event Totals from all three rounds determine the overall Series Total - yes, we will also recognise discipline specific series champions!

No bonus points. No handicaps. Every race counts.

👑 Series Champions

At the conclusion of Round 3, the athlete with the highest Series Total in each division will be crowned SLSGB Surf Series Champion.

💻 Registration

All competitors must register through the SLSGB website and hold a valid SLSGB membership. Day Membership is available for non-members.

All events will be tracked through LiveHeats, with live results, race schedules and series standings available throughout the season.

The SLSGB Surf Series celebrates the very best of surf lifesaving sport, testing athletes across multiple disciplines and ocean conditions while creating a pathway from emerging talent to elite competition.

Entry is now open for each Event! Don’t delay, you seriously don’t want to miss this, we’ve also got lots to give away! - https://slsgb.org.uk/sports-events/

🛟 LIFESAVING 🛟

Recent weeks have seen heartbreaking water-related tragedies across Great Britain, with lives lost in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and along our coastline. Behind every statistic is a family, a community and a future changed forever. The SLSGB Community sends their condolences to all effected.

At SLSGB, we know that drowning is often silent, sudden and preventable.

Powered by over 11,000 volunteers, SLSGB works year-round to educate communities, promote water safety and develop lifesaving skills. Last year alone, our volunteers carried out 4,552 interventions - a 38% increase on 2024 and helped save 49 lives.

These recent tragedies are a powerful reminder that water safety education saves lives.

As temperatures rise, many people are drawn to open water, but UK waters remain dangerously cold. Cold water shock can affect anyone, regardless of age or swimming ability, and inland waters now account for the majority of drowning incidents.

Remember:

🛟 If you fall into the water unexpectedly – FLOAT LIKE A STAR
⭐S - Stay calm
⭐T - Tilt your head back with ears in the water
⭐A - Arms and legs stretched out wide with light movement to support float
⭐R - Regain control of your breathing and call for help

If you see someone in trouble:

📱 PHONE – Call 999
🛟 FLOAT – Encourage them to float
🪢 THROW – Throw something that floats

Every conversation about water safety matters. Every lesson matters. Every life matters.
