Join local artist, Megan Dowsett - for a Creative Nature Bimble
Friday 20 June, 6.45-8.15am or 10am-11.30

June is THE month for grasses, so we have no choice but to explore the bounty and variety of the Cemetery in all it's glory. Ever noticed just how many different kinds of grass there are? I hadn't either until a year or two ago. It's also the time for the Summer Solstice, so we'll take a moment to mark halfway through the year and weave our thoughts in with the grasses.

Look at Heavitree in new ways, and find nature in every corner ...

Walks are for adults, whatever your experience (or lack of) of nature. They are free of charge but a £5 donation supports more walks to happen.

A GREAT way to let me know you're coming would be to fill out this very simple Google form - it helps me to be responsible about doing my job! Meeting detailsa and how to donate will be shared with booking confirmation. Due to small group sizes, once booked, please do your best to turn up!

Coming up this Tuesday 25th Feb! A COMMUNITY HISTORY event at Wynstream Primary School!! All welcome

Children between 3-30pm and 4-30pm and wider community welcome from 4-30pm to 5-30pm.

We'll be exploring the extraordinary history of the Burnthouse Lane landscape, before the estate was built, and since. For instance, did you know that the Swale family farmed much of the land in the Victorian period and they lived in Mile End House on Topsham Road that you can still see today.

Very excited to have been invited by the Wynstream Primary School PTFA to present a - COMMUNITY HISTORY EVENT - Tuesday 25th February 2025

Children between 3-30pm and 4-30pm and wider community welcome from 4-30pm to 5-30pm. If you're a local resident and would like to attend please contact the school for details.

We'll be exploring the extraordinary history of the Burnthouse Lane landscape, before the estate was built, and since. For instance, did you know that the plot the school is built on revealed archaeology from the Bronze and Iron Ages, plus high status Tudor pottery. In the Victorian period the field was owned by George Francis Travers who lived in Fairfield House and you can still see his Lodge on Topsham Road today.

There an ongoing project that the BHL Neighbourhood Pod of residents is brewing to explore this and more - if you'd like to get involved just let us know! https://www.burnthouselanesquilometre.org/east-side-poets.html
