Five of our Top Wombles needed no warm up for binning rubbish this morning.

Why are certain areas of our Town worse than others?

Kate, George, Harry, Jamie and myself took on the closed college boundary grounds. Someone has mown the lawns but left several shredded pieces of litter. Another area had what only looks like a glass recycling centre, some whole bottles but sadly large amounts of broken glass. We cleared 2 piles of fly tipping, wood, clothes and household stinky waste.

In extra time we took a look at the Hedges by our old Leisure centre. Cans, bottles and a car wing mirror!!!

Oldest item dug out was a Red Bull can from 2005 and weirdest item was possibly a Hoover dust cylinder.

We filled 12 Bags, player of the match was Harry who has now completed his 6 month DofE Volunteering.

Another outing this time with Harvington Guides.

19 Guides and 3 Leaders went on a quest around the village to find litter. Dare I say it but this area is mostly clear of rubbish but those eagle eyed Guides still found items.

They found cable ties, bottle tops, hair bands, cigarette butts, oven grill shelf, toy hammer, one sock, ring pulls and a toy hot dog roll!!!

Thank you to you all and happy for any local groups to get in touch and arrange a litter pick with myself ๐Ÿฆบ

The Three Musketeers aka Kate, George and myself had a few areas to choose from so George chose the Layby for our Saturday morning litter pick.

When you drive past somewhere most days and see how filthy it is you need to take action. Even though the verge is overgrown we still managed to fill 5 Bags.

All the yucky items baby wipes, Truckers tizer, plus yoghurt pots, sardine tins, lots of cigarette butts and several drinks cans alcohol and soft drinks. We also found Gold..... Smart Whip canisters 6 in the box!!! Lots of litter was decorating the ground around the rubbish bin. If I was responsible for emptying this bin I wouldn't leave all the rubbish around the base ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

We used a rake, 3 different length grabbers, a broom, dustpan and brush. The trolley is always handy to transport large junk items.

Two Midweek Litter Picks to report - Wipe Out Waste Wednesday

Yesterday morning I lent our kit to Capital Resolve Ltd on Vale Park. 7 Staff Members litter picked around Vale Park as they were fed up with the waste around their area. 14 Bags filled so 2 per person. Superb work by Megan & Team https://www.capitalresolve.com/

Yesterday evening myself and 4 Wombles were invited to join Kim & Avon River Activities Evesham to do a litter pick. Kim's team were on paddleboards and a boat. 3 Wombles were on a dragon and 2 Wombles stayed on land. There was a heavily littered area by the river next to a historic bridge and church in Evesham which Kim had seen from the River. Recently large trees had been cut down to reveal the enormous amount of rubbish. We soon got to work and cleared the area even removed a road cone and BMX bike (this has been donated to Playground Peddlers) Excellent litter picking from Kim and her Team plus Thank you to Jamie, Debbie, Rachel & Colin. Jamie joined us for the first time last night & boy was he thrown in at the deep end but he certainly got stuck in. We even got the trolley on the pedalo๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿšฏ๐Ÿšฎ

This evening I joined the Bengeworth and Hampton Guides for a good Litter Picking session.

18 Guides, 6 Leaders, 3 Young Leaders and 1 Parent Helper litter picked in and around Hampton.

I set the Guides a challenge to find the oldest or weirdest item of litter. They didn't disappoint they found underwear, a v**e in a box, not just one chair but two chairs, wooden hanger, external light housing, a broken chest of drawers and an unopened red bull can dated 2017.

During our pick a man gave us ยฃ5 to say Thank you so this will be used by the Guides to buy some treats after half term.

Thank you to all of this amazing group who really wanted to make a difference about clearing litter from their local area๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

Day 2 or Round 2 where our Womble Knights litter picked in and around Evesham Town centre during the Medieval Market Festival.

I took this opportunity to womble freely around the entrance roads/paths to our Park and Town. Despite the numerous bins we still have litter floating around. Along our High street we have an empty Bar/Restaurant where humans had intentionally posted litter between the windows and glass balcony.

During the day - Litter was fished out of a ditch, we did some more weeding, swept up more large patches of broken glass (one from a Bus Stop), picked up more cigarette butts, grabbed litter from drains, removed more graffiti tags from 2 cabinets, reported 3 areas of fly tipping in back streets, reported 5 blocked drains and picked up lots of micro litter. Oldest piece of litter was a Chocolate wrapper dated 2017 and most random item was a skinny dipping Barbie!!!!

Thank you to our Womble volunteers - Suzanne, Adrian, Lyn, Mary, Alan, Marie, Jackie, Bob, Rose and Mark ๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ›’๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

Also our thanks go to the Battle of Evesham Volunteers who litter picked the Festival areas.

Thank you again Tom & his staff at The Red Lion, Evesham for giving us refreshments.

We will be out again next weekend as our work is never done!!!

1st Bengeworth Brownies Litter Picking Evening
I'm very fortunate to be invited by different Community Groups who want to

14 Brownies, 2 Leaders, 2 Young Leaders and 1 Parent Helper litter picked in the Workman Gardens earlier this evening where we discovered over 144 cigarette butts on one patch of grass, several bottle tops stuck in the ground, pieces of broken glass, Vapes and other food packaging items. We removed over 500 cigarette butts from this area.

Thank you to this wonderful group who really cared about clearing the rubbish from one of our parks ๐Ÿšฎ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ

Operation: Cans out the Ditch

What a glorious morning to venture along country roads to remove all those Cans and other Litter items clearly thrown from vehicles.
Four Ladies litter picked along Willersey Road outside Badsey, first we found highway barriers and bollards, then we started finding Fast Food bags/containers and before long the Cans appeared.
Oldest Can was Sept 1994 and oldest items were a Co Op Glass Milk Bottle and a Vintage Medicine Glass bottle, both to be dated.

Thank you to Suzanne, Rachel & Pat joining me on another mission to remove Litter from our Town & Villages ๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿšฎ

During the week our Graffiti expert Colin went on another outing to remove those Tags from Walls along a Public footpath. He is certainly making a huge difference with all his cleaning products. Keep up the good work Colin
