With the support of staff, Tom has learned to travel independently to his local shop—building confidence, life skills, and independence along the way.

Tom told us: “It makes me happy… that’s what I wanted.” 💬

You might recognise her from the stables, where she works four days a week—but that’s not all she does!

For over a year, Amii has been teaching children with autism to ride, creating a fun and welcoming space where they can build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the freedom of being around horses 🐎✨

Amii also writes a monthly column in our newsletter, sharing her experiences and the amazing progress she sees.

For the final part of our Carers Week series, we’re delighted to share Sarah’s story 💙

Sarah joined Lisieux Trust in July 2025, taking a big step towards independence. Like many people at the start of their journey, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves—but just eight months on, she says: “I’m loving it.”

With support from staff, Sarah is building everyday skills, finding her voice, and growing in confidence. From cooking meals and keeping her space tidy to enjoying creative hobbies and making her room her own “Princess Palace,” her journey is all about empowerment, choice, and belonging.

“Living here isn’t about being looked after – it’s about being empowered. It feels like home.”
