District Lead Volunteer Update:
What a fantastic two weeks it’s been across Epsom & Ewell Scout District! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to together…Think we might need more regular updates moving forwards!
🎳 Beaver Bowling Fun!
Over 70 Beavers from 7 Colonies (plus a few enthusiastic Cubs!) came together for our brilliant Beaver Bowling Competition. The energy, excitement and team spirit on display were fantastic – it’s always special seeing so many of our youngest members enjoying Scouting together.
🙋♂️ District Cub Quiz
Our District Cub Quiz brought teams together to battle it out for the honour of representing E&E at county level. Huge congratulations to 3rd Epsom for taking the top spot – we’re all cheering you on for the next round!
🙏 Celebrating Service
It was lovely to join some amazing volunteers at the National Service of Celebration of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on Friday - congratulations to Claire, John, Richard and Rich on their recent awards.
💪 Stronger Together – Adult Forum
We held our first joint adults meeting and were thrilled to welcome over 50 volunteers. The room was full of positivity, ideas and honest discussion as we explored our new Stronger Together strategy and how we move confidently into 2026. The passion for giving young people the very best opportunities was clear to see. To continue our positivity and thinking we have also added a new date into our diary - 8 March 2026 from 6-8pm.
🏊♂️ District Swimming Gala
What. An. Event.
Over 300 swimmers joined us at the Rainbow Leisure Centre and Spa for our District Swimming Gala – an incredible showcase of determination, encouragement and teamwork. So many medals awarded and smiles all round! Congratulations to 2nd Ewell for winning the overall group trophy.
⛑️ First Response Training
Another successful First Response course saw more of our leaders renewing their skills. Keeping our training up to date ensures we continue to provide safe, high-quality experiences for all our young people.
🏕️ Supporting Our Community
A fantastic group of our adult volunteers supported Girlguiding Epsom division for their Thinking Day event – helping put up mess tents, lighting and more. It’s great to work alongside other youth organisations in our community.
👷 Growing for the Future
Work is progressing well on the refurbishment of 1st Ruxley HQ – an exciting investment in our facilities for years to come.
And we’re not stopping there…
Our trustees are now exploring the potential for securing another new Scout HQ and possibly opening an additional Scout Group in Epsom & Ewell. More spaces. More opportunities. More young people gaining skills for life.
There’s so much to be proud of – and even more to look forward to.
Thank you to every volunteer, young person, supporter and family who makes this possible.
We really are Surrey Scouts
