At St Martins Church there will be a ‘Service of Thanksgiving and Commemoration for VJ Day’, led by the Royal British Legion Epsom & Ewell at11am. Here is a link for anyone who wishes to watch the service live - https://orlo.uk/6yaYLToday

Today we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Victory in Japan Day marks the date when Japan surrendered to the Allied Forces, bringing an end to the Second World War. We give thanks to all those who serviced in our armed forces during WW2 and today we will especially remember those in the Far East.

When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today

If you are unable to watch live, a recording of the event will be made available shortly after the service.

Branch VE Day celebrations!

6th May: It all started with a meal at Toby Carvery for the members of the Veterans Hub.
8th May: We then had a stand at the Jockey Club and our branch standard bearer Ashley led others from the county at the lighting of the beacon.
10th May: The branch representatives laid wreaths at the Ashley Road memorial joined by MP Helen Maguire and Armed Forces Champion Councillor Graham Jones. We then had a fantastic afternoon tea at the Epsom Club, enjoying a singalong with the U3A ukulele band, a raffle and a guess the weight of the cake comp - kindly supplied by Ann Bath.

Thank you to everyone who attended these events and made the celebrations so enjoyable. Special mention to Barb Warwick, the branch chair who made it all possible.

We will never forget the "Greatest Generation" ❤️
