Official Statement – Closure of Island Voices Toastmasters – District 71
Club No: 28678798

3rd June 2026

After careful consideration, the decision has been made to formally close Island Voices Toastmasters with immediate effect.

This decision follows a thorough review of circumstances relating to the club’s chartering process and subsequent events. Concerns were identified in relation to the completion and submission of documentation as part of the chartering process, including questions regarding the authorisation and validity of certain signatures and supporting information. These concerns were raised with Toastmasters International Headquarters. The concerns raised had a significant impact on confidence in the integrity of the process and the club’s ability to move forward on a sound foundation.

Throughout this process, every effort was made to explore options that would allow the club to continue. However, following extensive reflection, discussions with relevant parties, and consideration of the wider implications for members and the community, it became clear that continuing the club would not be in the best interests of those involved. Our experience of the support available to the club at District level during this period also contributed to our assessment of the club’s future viability and informed our decision to close.

The values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence have remained central to our approach at all times. It is precisely because of our commitment to these values that we have reached this difficult decision. The integrity, transparency, and trust that underpin any successful organisation are essential to its continued operation. Once confidence in those principles had been compromised, we no longer believed that the club could continue in a manner consistent with the environment, culture, and standards we had hoped to establish for our members.

While we respect the governance processes of Toastmasters International and all those who have contributed their time and effort throughout this journey, we have concluded that closure is the most appropriate and responsible course of action. This decision has not been taken lightly, but it is considered necessary in order to draw a line under the matter and allow everyone involved the opportunity to move forward constructively and professionally.

We extend our sincere thanks to all members, supporters, and guests who contributed positively to Island Voices Toastmasters. Your commitment, encouragement, and participation have been greatly appreciated, and we wish you every success in your future.

What started as an idea to create a space where people could find their voice is now growing into something really special.

Because this isn’t just about public speaking…
It’s about confidence.
It’s about leadership.
It’s about helping people say the things they’ve been holding back.

So many people sit in rooms every day with brilliant ideas — and never say them. This is about changing that.

A supportive, no-pressure environment where you can build confidence step by step… and realise you’re far more capable than you think.

And we’re only just getting started 🚀

If you’ve ever thought:
“I wish I could speak up more…”
“This could be your sign.”

A community group in Enniskillen is helping people build confidence, improve communication skills and develop ideas through a supportive and…

Most people don’t struggle with ideas… they struggle with explaining them.

We see it all the time — brilliant people, great businesses, loads to offer… but when it comes to actually talking about it, everything gets a bit… messy.

Overexplaining.
Underselling.
Or just avoiding it altogether.

So we’re running a session on exactly that 👇
How to create and deliver a pitch that actually lands

Nothing formal, nothing intimidating — just real, practical help you can actually use.

I’ve spent time with business owners who are doing everything right…

Showing up.
Working late.
Trying harder than everyone else around them.

And still feeling like they’re just… keeping up.

Not getting ahead.
Not seeing the results they should be.
Constantly questioning themselves.

“Why does this feel so much harder for me?”

If that’s ever crossed your mind, this isn’t something to ignore.

Because it’s not about working harder.

It’s about understanding how you actually think, lead, plan and perform — and building a way of working that fits you.

This workshop isn’t theory.

It’s real, practical insight into:
• Why things feel harder than they should
• What’s actually going on underneath it
• And what to do about it

If this hit… trust that instinct.

Most people think great speakers are just naturally confident…

They’re not.

They’ve studied it.

They’ve watched others.
They’ve paid attention.
They’ve learned what works — and what doesn’t.

Look at speakers like Obama, Jobs, Oprah…

It’s not just what they say.
It’s how they pause.
How they move.
How they connect.

That’s where the magic is.

And the best part?

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

You can see it.
Practice it.
And build it — in the room.

Who is Island Voices for?

Honestly… probably you.

It’s for the person who feels a little nervous speaking in front of others…
The one who overthinks what they’re going to say before they say it.

It’s for the person who knows they’ve more to give…
But just hasn’t had the space (or confidence) to say it out loud yet.

It’s also for the business owner…
The leader…
The one pitching ideas, leading teams, or showing up in rooms where communication really matters.

Because being good at what you do…
and being able to communicate it clearly…
are two very different things.

It’s for people who want to:
• Build confidence
• Speak with clarity
• Think on their feet
• Share ideas without second guessing themselves

And maybe most importantly…

It’s for people who don’t want to do that alone.

Because one of the biggest things we hear after meetings is:

👉 “I thought it was just me.”

It’s not just you.

And you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

📍 We meet 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month
🕖 7–9pm (arrive from 6:45pm)
📍 The Workhouse, Enniskillen

You’re welcome to come along, sit in, and see what it’s all about.

No pressure. No expectations.

Just a room full of people figuring it out… together.

🌍 What is Island Voices Toastmasters?

Most people think Toastmasters is about public speaking.

It’s not.

It’s about learning how to communicate clearly, think on your feet, and show up with confidence — in meetings, in business, and in life.

Because the reality is…
A lot of people are sitting in rooms every day with great ideas — and not saying them.

That’s where we come in.

Island Voices Toastmasters is a supportive, no-pressure environment where you can:
• Build real confidence (not fake it)
• Speak without overthinking every word
• Develop leadership and communication skills that actually transfer into your work and life
• Challenge yourself — at your own pace

No egos. No judgement. Just growth.

📍 We meet at The Workhouse, Enniskillen
🕖 7–9pm (arrive from 6:45pm)
📅 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month

You can come along, get involved, or just sit back and observe — your first few visits are free.

Because confidence isn’t something you’re born with.
It’s something you build.

And you don’t have to do it alone.
