Fermanagh Metal Detecting Club (FMDC) is absolutely thrilled to present a £1,600 cheque to PeterPan Playgroup , raised during our recent charity token hunt!

We couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from so many people and businesses, so here comes the well-deserved thank-yous!

First up, a massive thanks to Gareth Kee for generously allowing us to use his land for the second year running—without him, the dig wouldn’t have happened!

To all the detectorists who came along and braved the very unpredictable weather - we had rain, hail and shine 🌞 thank you for helping make the day such a big success. We had milled coins, hammered coins, cobs, a dagger and lots of musket balls and relics 😁 It's thanks to your participation and generosity that we were able to raise such a fantastic amount!

Big shout out to everyone who bought a burger - or two or three 🍔😁 they were from Stewart's Butchers Enniskillen,
I honestly enjoyed cooking them as much as you all seemed to enjoy eating them 😅 Jamie Taylor for sorting the baps and to Sean Palmer for literally holding down the fort—he nearly took off with the gazebo a few times! 🙈

Our raffle was another big highlight, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets. A huge thank you to:

Colin Reddick , Swing N Dig Detectorist, Craig Kenny , Colin Wilson, Pane Perfection , Dominik Stańczuk, Lee Ross Mark Scullion, Martin Hickman & Taylor Marie Creations !

And finally, a huge thank you to Lesa Verner who organised the whole thing and made sure everything was prepped, planned, and perfect.

Here’s to many more successful hunts and supporting great causes! ☺️

Today, our committee member Sean Palmer proudly presented a £500 cheque to the amazing team at Omagh Riding for Disabled Association. The donation was raised during our March dig at Castle Irvine Necarne, generously supported by the landowner. It means so much to be able to give back to such a fantastic charity—one that brings joy and confidence to so many lives.

Brilliant article in the Fermanagh Herald this week of an interview our committee member Les Graydon gave. If anyone is interested in hosting us to raise money for a charity get in touch with the club 😁

When you think about treasure hunting, your mind might turn to fictional characters like Indiana Jones and Lara Croft, books like ‘Treasure Island’, or the long-running archaeological show ‘Time Team’.

Last Week a member of the public contacted the club to see if anyone was available to locate two rings they had lost on the beach. Unfortunately alot of the members were in England at a rally but when we got back myself and Lesa headed off to have a look but between the wind and the rain and the girls telling us it was a terrible idea going to the beach we had to give up 😩. The next morning David Doonan contacted us to ask what was lost and a general area so we passed along the details and kept our fingers crossed 🤞 That night after only looking for about 5 minutes David found them about 6" down and 8" apart!! One very lucky lady as after 4 days they could have been swept out to sea! David refused the reward but the lady was adamant she wanted us to take something as she was so grateful so we agreed on sending her donation of £150 to our chosen charity PeterPan Playgroup! Thanks again David for all your help 😁
