This week is Organ Donation Week across the UK. Running from Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th September the initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and the number of people currently on the register waiting to receive an organ transplant.

Today is World Organ Donation Day! 💗

Join us to celebrate the life-saving impact of organ donation and remember the donors and their families who make it all possible.

More people than ever before are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in the UK – but donor and transplant numbers have fallen. The stark reality is that over 8,000 people, including 276 children, were on the active transplant waiting list as of 31 March 2025 – the highest number on record.

Confirming your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register takes just 2 minutes and you could save up to 9 lives. It's the best thing you'll do today.
