Wow! I’m so bowled over by you lovely lot! Thank you so much for all your generous donations! Please keep them coming because I really believe we can make this happen now! 🙏🏼❤️

Locals will be aware of the redevelopment that is happening right now in St. Jude’s Road, coordinated by the Green Village Forum with support from Surrey County Council and Runnymede Borough Council. https://egvforum.org.uk/central-area-refurbishment
It’s in the heart (excuse the pun) of our village and the perfect spot for a defibrillator!

The good news is that I’ve been given the OK to install one, but the bad news is that I don’t have the funds and we only have a couple of weeks to muster them! So please help NOW by once again donating to my crowdfunding appeal. The chances are, you’ll help save a life ❤️

Look after your hearts this Valentine’s Day ❤️

I should have posted this weeks ago but Christmas kind of got in the way. But I want to give a massive shoutout to Paul Markham from Green Box First Aid Training who delivered a brand new defibrillator battery to me just before Christmas. Having just been to check up on the AED at Englefield Green’s Barley Mow pub, his donation came in the nick of time and I am truly grateful that he helped me out with this incredibly expensive item which I have committed to maintain for the benefit of our community 🙏🏼

I am due to receive my First Aid refresher training with Green Box in April - this is in-the-workplace training and I cannot recommend it highly enough. When I went for my initial training I was still quite raw from my own husband’s cardiac arrest which prompted my crowdfunding campaign to install 24/7 access community defibrillators. But he handled this with sensitivity and I can honestly say it’s the best training I’ve ever had! ❤️

Whilst I’m on the gratitude train, a reminder that the actual defibrillator unit at the Barley Mow was donated by the brilliant people at Thames Valley Heartbeat. They’re a small, volunteer run charity whose raison d’etre is purely to raise funds for defibrillators to be installed within communities. So whilst your donations to my crowdfunding appeal paid for the cabinet, TVH provided the AED, so please support them in any way you can to continue doing great things for communities like ours. As they say, we hope you’ll never need it…

📣 Request for support ❤️

I’ve just been to The Barley Mow, Englefield Green to do my regular defibrillator checks that guardians need to do, and it’s all fine and ready for any emergency that I sincerely hope no one needs.

BUT I noticed that the battery is starting to wear out, so I’ll need to replace it within the next few months. At about £250-£300 these are no small cost, so PLEASE, once again I am requesting your donations to help with maintenance of this and the other two defibrillators that I’ve helped install with the support of Thames Valley Heartbeat 🙏🏼

Please donate via the link below, even if it’s just a fiver or 50p! It all helps and adds up, so please don’t feel embarrassed that you can’t afford much as I appreciate each and every donation - and you just may help save someone’s life! Thanks in advance ❤️🙏🏼

A new battery for The Beehive’s defibrillator has finally been delivered and I’ll be dropping it off today so that their AED will be back available soon. Please keep donating to my crowdfunding appeal as the three defibrillators I’m responsible for (The Beehive, The Barley Mow and the United Church of Egham) need ongoing maintenance, and this baby has set me back £204.60. I’m committed to keeping them up and running but with three batteries needing occasional replacement plus pads in the region of £50 I could use some help please!

Sudden cardiac death kills 12 young people in the UK every week. We need your donations to fund the lifesaving research that could stop this tragic reality.

As part of Royal Holloway, University of London’s programme of positioning AEDs on public-facing external walls, you can find this one midway down Egham Hill outside the Katharine Worth Building. Please familiarise yourself with your closest defibrillator - I hope you never need it, but it’s good to be prepared in case the worst happens.

We’ve yet to receive our copy of ‘Runnymede Talks’, but if you’ve had your free mag delivered from Runnymede Borough Council, you’ll find my ugly mug inside - once again banging on about defibrillators! The one takeaway I want people to remember is that if the worst happens, I KNOW it’s terrifying but just give it a go as you literally can’t make things worse! I’d had no training at the point of my husband’s cardiac arrest, and his recovery defied all medical expectations - so there is always hope ❤️

Thank you to Paul Markham from Green Box First Aid Training for inviting me along to a first aid course he was running today to show me the brand new hand held defib that's now on the market! This thing is seriously small, less than 10x20cm so it can easily fit in a bag or large pocket, and much more affordable that the public access ones. Great if you have a heart condition and want to feel prepared!

Big shoutout to the students at Royal Holloway LINKS First Aid society at Royal Holloway Students' Union for holding a drop-in session in the Davison Building today for students to try out CPR. Amelia (on the left) is the training lead and told me they meet every Thursday to teach first aid to students.

Here’s one for all residents living in the South Road/ Alexandra Road/A30 end of St Jude’s Road.

As previously posted, Royal Holloway, University of London has been repositioning all of its defibrillators in outside cabinets close to their perimeter so that they are also easily accessible to the wider community.

This means that, as of this week, you now have one super close, in Highfield just off South Road. I hope you never need it but if you do, defibrillation within 3 minutes of a cardiac arrest increases that person’s chances of recovery from 2% to 70%. You’ll be given the code to access the cabinet from 999 and the machine itself talks you through what you need to do. ❤️
