Our Quizzers!

Great to have so many Sutton members at today's W.I. federation quiz; we entered 4 teams!

The afternoon started with a choice of homemade soup, bread and fruit and lots of chatter! Over 20 teams from across the federation gathered in Witchford enjoying 8 rounds of questions across a wide variety of topics.

The afternoon's winners were City of Ely with team Sutton 3 coming a close second. A lovely afternoon of fun and friendship.πŸ˜€

Whilst Storm Goretti may have reduced numbers attending our first meeting of 2026, we had a very informative and sociable evening.

With a focus on health & wellbeing, Liz led a session on armchair exercises - encouraging 5-10 mins each day to help keep us active and flexible.

We also discussed the 5 resolutions that the W.I. have short listed for the year ahead before voting, with a quiz to test our knowledge of these areas. All members across every federation has a vote. We should hear by next month which will form the main campaign for 2026.

Our evening included a cuppa too, always good to have a chance to have a chat and catch up.

Happy New Year to all our members and supporters.

Our 2026 programme kicks off this week.

We'll be meeting on Thursday 8th January at 7.30pm at The Pavilion. Along with discussions about this year’s WI resolutions our fabulous President Liz T will be guiding us through some gentle chair exercises to give you that feel good factor for the start of 2026.

Members will also be able to pick up the programme for the year ahead, a great variety of speakers and events so hopefully it has something for everyone.

Look forward to see everyone on Thursday!

Many thanks to all our bakers and especially to Anna and Lynne who were in action serving refreshments to almost 300 runners at today's 10k & 5K Sutton Beast.
Great to see some of our other members involved too marshalling, on the water station and helping with the BBQ.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 We received greetings from Wales from where the first W.I. was established in 1915 and where one of our members lived as a child: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwynndropwllllantysiliogogogoch! (Otherwise known as Llanfair P.G.).

Our W.I. in Sutton was established just nine years later in 1924, and last year we enjoyed celebrating our centenary.

A lovely evening at tonight's W.I. meeting organised by our Secretary Anna where we made necklaces from silk fabric, with time to chat as well as test taste lemon drizzle cakes. Congratutions to Pat on her winning cake.

We were pleased to welcome three new visitors as well as baby Felix.
