At tonight’s LTVH AGM, we were delighted to welcome a number of people who came to hear about our work over the past year.

At the meeting, the current cohort of trustees were elected to serve again and, at the trustee meeting that followed, were then assigned the offices and responsibilities they’d held previously.

The trustees look forward to managing the hall on behalf of the community in what promises to be an exciting year.

Should you wish to help us on our journey, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

A quick update on Village Fortunes.

This event is being put on hold for now. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to gain the firm commitment of enough teams to run this event as originally planned. Rather than compromise the format, it feels better to pause it.

Apologies to those teams who were ready to compete - the chance to lift the trophy will have to wait.

Thank you to everyone who showed interest and support.

The Trustees are delighted to inform villagers that OCS, a major facility management company, have refreshed the kitchen in the village hall. Hygiene within the kitchen area is of critical importance. All cracks have been filled and the walls repainted. We supplied the paint and OCS met all labour and ancillary material costs. As a company, OCS support a wide range of community buildings and activities, so we were delighted to be included in the latest schedule of work.

The trustees have been making strong progress recently with the exciting plans for the village hall extension. You will no doubt have seen the regular updates in the village newsletter.

Since the last public meeting, the trustees have taken on board your comments and worked through the issues you raised. The latest plans feature improvements in security, room layout, café design, toilet configuration, and cycling access.

With those revisions now complete, the team is preparing to submit the planning application.

You may recall some discussions regarding the ash tree at the edge of the proposed development. As mentioned previously, the build would simply not be possible if the tree were to remain in place.

A tree would never be removed if there was any valid alternative. Unfortunately, on this occasion, there is no other solution.

The trustees take their environmental stewardship responsibilities extremely seriously but, from time to time, difficult decisions must be made to allow ambitious projects like this to move from drawing board to reality. Whilst it is regrettable that the tree has to be felled, the trustees intend to plant additional trees to offset this biodiversity loss.

In the first stage of this process, the tree will be reduced to a stump approximately 1 metre high. This work is scheduled for Monday 24 November.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
