Fire&Chill is now based at Witchford Village Hall, playing fields and green every Wednesday from 5–7pm, all year round, for young people in Year 6 to Year 9. It’s just £4 a week (pay as you go).

Since launching in June 2023, we’ve loved running sessions across both Witchford Village Hall and Millennium Woods, adapting with the seasons. However, after a lot of careful thought, we’ve made the very difficult decision to remain at the hall and field moving forward. We’re mindful of the impact that regular footfall of 25-30+ young people can have on the woodland, and we want to respect the ongoing concerns raised by some members of the Woodland Group, who feel strongly about its use.

We know this change may be disappointing for some of the young people (and honestly, for us too), but we’re really committed to making Fire&Chill just as fun, meaningful and special in this new setup. We’ll have hammocks, beanbags and cushions, sports equipment, a bigger tuck shop, crafts and activities—and of course, a campfire!

This term, we’re excited to welcome Space Art workshops, and next term we’re looking ahead to our BIG camping sleepover and end-of-term party with a BBQ and bouncy castle.

To join, just send us a message on 07515 274369 and we’ll send over a sign-up form—then you can simply turn up on a Wednesday.

This week, we’d planned to light the fire, but the wind had other ideas! Instead, Sj popped to the shop for ice creams to make up for the missed marshmallows—and we were so grateful to Post Office for kindly donating a box for free. Thank you so much for your support!

🔥❄️ Fire&Chill Youth Group – Autumn Term Highlights ❄️🔥

What an amazing Autumn term we’ve had at Fire&Chill! Over 15 weeks, we welcomed 25–35 local young people (aged 11–15) every Wednesday, offering a safe, fun and inclusive space right here in Witchford. 💛
👉 Check out the photos/video to see what we’ve been up to!

🌲 Outdoor fun in Millennium Wood included campfires, hammocks, games, safe whittling, woodwork and toasted s’mores. A huge highlight was welcoming Animal Encounters, where 35 young people met everything from fluffy mammals to snakes, reptiles, an owl and even a tarantula!

🎨 Creative & community sessions moved indoors to Witchford Village Hall, with Halloween fun, crafts and preparing for the Junior Makers Market. The young people proudly ran their own stall, raised £27 and built confidence along the way.

🎬🎄 Trips & celebrations rounded off the term, including a cinema trip, Christmas crafts and a festive visit to Tree Tops soft play in pyjamas!

We’re so proud of everything the group has achieved and grateful to Witchford Parish Council for supporting local youth provision. We’re excited to build on this next term with new activities, partnerships and opportunities for our young people.

🔥❄️ Here’s to another great term ahead! ❄️🔥

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Sweet Ally Scoops Vintage Ice Cream Van ! 🍦❤️

We are absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of Sweet Ally Scoops Vintage Ice Creams, who joined us at Fire&Chill this evening and gifted all 30 of our young people (plus leaders!) a delicious ice cream each – completely free of charge!

Ally, a residential of Witchford, has been a long-time supporter and follower of Fire&Chill and everything we do. Her thoughtful donation was not only incredibly generous but also brought huge smiles and joy to our young people tonight.

Moments like this truly capture the spirit of our community – when local hearts come together to support, uplift, and celebrate the next generation. Thank you, Ally, for your continued encouragement and for making our last session before the summer so special. 💛

Please do go and support Ally’s Vintage Ice Creams – not only is her ice cream amazing, but her heart is even sweeter. 🍨✨

Fire&Chill Youth Group – Lighting the Way for Young People

Fire&Chill is a not-for-profit youth group, fully funded by Witchford Parish Council, offering a fresh and exciting opportunity for young people in Witchford and the surrounding villages. Open to Years 6 to 9, the group meets weekly for two hours, year-round, for just £4 per session including a light meal/snacks and a tuck shop.
Sessions take place outdoors – either in Millennium Wood or on the WPFA (playing fields) with use of the village hall during the colder months – with an average weekly turnout of 25–35 young people.

What makes Fire&Chill stand out is its unique blend of traditional youth club fun and adventurous outdoor experiences. Alongside games, crafts, and trips, members enjoy bushcraft activities such as tool work, cooking over the fire, hammock lounging, tree climbing, and hands-on forest-based play.
Over the past two years, the group has also hosted first aid courses, drumming workshops, self-defence sessions, bouncy castle days, and even a visit from an ice cream van!

Most recently, Fire&Chill hosted "The Big Camping Sleepover," with 36 young people camping out overnight on Witchford Village Green – a highlight of the year and a true testament to the spirit of the group.

Led by experienced, qualified Forest School practitioners and ex-military leaders, and supported by an amazing team of young leaders, Fire&Chill provides a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where young people can grow in confidence, connect with nature, and simply be themselves.

It’s a brilliant example of what’s possible when a community comes together to support its next generation.

We’d like to express our sincere thanks to Witchford Parish Council for guaranteeing funding for Fire&Chill through to July 2027 — your support makes everything we do possible.

A huge thank you also goes to the families and wider community who champion our sessions, the Witchford Open Spaces Group for generously allowing us access to Millennium Woods for up to 20 sessions a year, and the Witchford Village Hall (WPFA) for their ongoing flexibility and support.

Together, you help keep the fire burning and the children playing outside (and off their tech!!)

🔥✨ What a Night at Fire & Chill! ✨🔥

Last night’s EPIC quiz night had it all—laughter, competition, and some seriously impressive knowledge! Our young people wowed us with their general knowledge, pop culture expertise, and “Name That Tune” skills. We even put them to the test with a fun round to see who knows the leaders best (some of those answers were… interesting! 😆).

But the real highlight? The dance round! Turns out, all those hours perfecting TikTok moves finally paid off! 💃🕺

With plenty of snacks, fizzy drinks, and prizes up for grabs, it was a night to remember. Huge shoutout to everyone who took part—you brought the energy and made it so much fun!

Same time next week? 😉🔥

This week at Fire&Chill, we were thrilled to welcome certified first aid trainer Daniel Brocklebank from DSB First Aid Training for a hands-on, interactive session. The young people showed incredible enthusiasm as they delved into basic first aid techniques, including bandaging, shock, recovery position, wound care, and what to do in an emergency.

Daniel’s engaging approach made the session not only educational but also fun, with plenty of opportunities for the group to practice their new skills. By the end of the session, the young people had gained a basic foundation in first aid, and they’ll each receive a certificate to recognize their hard work and participation.

It was amazing to see everyone so engaged, learning practical skills that could make a real difference someday. A huge thank you to Daniel for making it such a memorable and inspiring evening!

Wow! What an Amazing First Fire&Chill Youth Group Holiday Club Day!

Last Friday marked our FIRST EVER holiday club day, and it couldn’t have been better! The energy and creativity were incredible, and we packed so much fun into the day.

In the morning, our young people got crafty, creating stunning **’Tree of Life’ New Year wreaths**. Each piece of the wreath symbolized something meaningful they hoped for in the year ahead—so inspiring to see their thoughtful designs come to life!

At lunchtime, it was time to get hands-on in the kitchen! Showing off their culinary skills, whipping up delicious pizzas for lunch. And for dessert? A campfire classic: S’mores roasted over an open flame outside. Delicious and cozy!

The day was rounded out with plenty of other activities: browsing the tuck shop, playing games, hanging out in the park, and of course, enjoying some much-needed downtime because—after all—**chilling** is in our name!

We’re so proud of our amazing group for making our first holiday club so memorable. Can’t wait to do it all again soon!
