With just over a month to go things are hotting up as we get ready for the start of this next phase of the Petuaria ReVisited project.

A "search for a port" continues where the East Riding Archaeological Society left off in 1978.

It aims to help prove some of the theories that the expansion of Roman Britain at Petuaria expanded due to the developement of the port

I find it frustrating and upsetting that watching briefs for new small building projects that are done by independent contractors. The contractor walks a tight line between whats right for history and whats best for the pay master The balance has the potential to be more favourable for the builder.

I have in recent years kept an eye on local projects with interest. Projects that known archaeological remains exist, but no full scale dig was done because allegedly there was nothing of interest.

The builder admitted a few years after the event there was a Roman road and buildings passed through the project.

Moving on to recently its possible the same is happening again. Nothing has been found but the spoil is loaded with items of interest.

More robust checks need to be done by officials with no bias favouring the builder, allegedly.
