Our next grant showcase highlights Ellon Community Allotments, a fantastic new community resource that opened earlier this year. The site offers 56 allotment plots available to residents of the local area, and demand has been extremely high, with a waiting list now in operation—a clear sign of the project’s success and value to the community.

Formartine Rural Partnership was pleased to support this initiative by providing a grant to purchase and install security gates at both the main vehicle entrance and the pedestrian access point. These improvements help protect the site, enhance safety, and give plot holders greater peace of mind as they develop and maintain their allotments.

The allotments continue to grow and evolve, with further developments and improvements planned in the near future. We look forward to seeing how Ellon Community Allotments continues to flourish and strengthen community engagement, local food growing, and wellbeing.

Grants Award Showcase
Following our recent Large Grant Scheme, we will be highlighting some of the impressive impacts made possible through this funding.

First up is Haddo Arts, who—with our funding support —delivered a vibrant programme of events over the summer.
Their line-up included performances by jazz pianist Gabriel Latchin, Orchestra Nova, accordionist Ryan Corbett, and award-winning young Scottish pianist and composer Ethan Loch.
This year’s David and June Gordon Lecture focused on the poet Byron: “Born Half a Scot and Bred a Whole One”, and was preceded by a piano recital from Angus and Finlay Donohoe
The season of events finished with the much-anticipated return of Scottish Opera.
The Courtyard Concerts also proved a delightful addition, giving mainly amateur musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents in a series of free, informal performances.
