🌱 Beginning to Blossom Competition 2026 🌱
Now that schools are back, pupils should have heard the exciting results of Beginning to Blossom 2026!
Our judges were delighted to see the wonderful work being carried out by pupils, teachers and local communities to enrich school grounds and create fantastic outdoor spaces where children can learn, explore and gain hands-on experience. 🌻
It was inspiring to see how outdoor learning brings so many subjects together — from growing plants and understanding nature to mathematics, English, science and the arts. 📚🎨🌱
Even more wonderful was hearing directly from the children about the work they do to care for their school grounds and, in turn, help look after our planet. 🌍💚
🏆 Congratulations to our Overall Winner, Cultercullen School! 🎉
In the coming weeks, presentations will be made to all participating schools to acknowledge and celebrate the time, effort, enthusiasm and creativity that everyone has put into the competition.

🌸🌸🌸🌸FORMARTINE BEGINNING TO BLOSSOM 2026🌸🌸🌸🌸
All our judging is now complete, and the children are officially on their summer holidays!

What a wonderful few days we've had visiting all the schools that took part in Formartine Beginning to Blossom. It has been an absolute pleasure to see the enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work that both the children and school staff and communities have put into their outdoor spaces.

It was inspiring to see pupils getting hands-on with nature—caring for their school grounds, creating habitats for wildlife, growing plants, and learning where their food comes from. It was also fantastic to see outdoor learning being used to bring the curriculum to life, with activities incorporating art, mathematics, statistics, science, literacy, and languages in meaningful and engaging ways.

Every school brought something unique, making the judging incredibly enjoyable and, at times, very difficult because of the high standard of entries. .

A huge thank you to all the pupils, teachers, support staff, volunteers, parents, and everyone who contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make Formartine Beginning to Blossom such a success. And in particular our 2 judges.

We hope everyone has a well-deserved, relaxing summer break, and we look forward to sharing the results after the holidays. 🌼🌿

What a fantastic start to our school visits as part of Beginning to Blossom 2026! 🌸

It has been a pleasure to spend the first day meeting so many enthusiastic children and dedicated school staff. Seeing the excitement on the children's faces as they proudly shared everything they have been learning and achieving was truly inspiring.

We were delighted to see how schools are embracing and promoting their outdoor areas, creating engaging environments where children can learn, explore, and connect with nature. It's great to see the positive impact these spaces are having on learning, wellbeing, and creativity.

A huge thank you to all the schools for the warm welcome. We can't wait to continue our visits and see even more of the amazing work taking place as part of Beginning to Blossom 2026. 🌱💚
