Yesterday we took a convoy of vans to WESTLAND, South Rd, Ellesmere Port and picked up approximately £3k of wood chippings they donated to us, to help complete the pathways in our woodland project.
We had a team of 15 volunteers to load, drive and unload. Then move every bag into the woodland. The picture here shows just a third of the load we picked up.
The staff at WESTLAND were so nice and really helpful and supportive - thank you.
A great days work everyone!

Overpool allotment association bbq!!
Well everyone, yes the bbq yesterday was a huge success. Attended by around 65 people including the mayor and lady mayoress of Ellesmere Port and Ellesmere Port news.
An incredible team effort by everyone and supported generously by all that attended.

Our aim with this project is to create a space for relaxation and mental health, a place of learning and play. To be able to open this facility to our wider community, to local groups, schools, organisations that support human needs to benefit from our facilities.
We are hoping to have areas such as:
Sensory garden
Bushcraft area
Foraging throughout
Wild area
Bug hotels
Play areas
Training area
Meetings pergola
Benches throughout
Pond and pond life classes
Tool loan facilities
Composting toilet.
So as you can see. Still a long road ahead. If you know anyone who wants to join us, support us on our journey. Get touch.

Four months later, a lot of time, effort, fundraising to pay for expert arborists expertise, hiring a digger for a day to dig out our ponds, lots of outside support from other volunteers. We are making progress… The woodland area has been cleared, dead trees felled, rubbish removed, metal recycled, bonfires galore and has literally been transformed….
Still a long way to go, but this is how it’s looking currently.

Last year late in 2025 we decided to start a project to clear and develop an area of very overgrown, fly tipped, woodland which forms part of our allotment site. We are incredibly lucky to have this area and hopefully when completed it will be a real asset to our allotment family and the wider community.
We started work in March this year. With the help of volunteers, conservation guidance and a lot of enthusiasm!! Here are some suggestions of what it was like…..
