About 20 swifts spotted feeding between the showers tonight. Mill Lane/Whetstone area

Not many swifts around at the moment. We think that the very few with eggs in the nest will stay local and feed on the low numbers of insects available whilst the others will go somewhere warmer, where there is more food available.
With temperatures warming next week hopefully there will be much more food available plus there are still large numbers on the migration route.
Fingers crossed for more rooftop action in a week’s time🤞

One of our spotters saw about 20 swifts over Little Sutton yesterday.
They’re back and hopefully plenty more to follow!
