What a day.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Moray CAN Climate Conference 2026, along with our brilliant speakers and stallholders.

We heard inspiring examples of climate action already happening across Moray. From dune restoration with the Findhorn Hinterland Trust to wildlife habitat creation at Forres Golf Club, to young people getting hands-on with local nature projects to communities working together to strengthen local food systems.

We explored the ambitious efforts of the Findhorn, Nairn & Lossie Rivers Trust and the Spey Catchment Initiative restoring and improving the health of the these catchments, helping create healthier rivers and stronger ecosystems for future generations.

We also heard about wildfire resilience with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
and the Cairngorms National Park including how drones are helping identify heat sources in difficult terrain. We also learned about the opportunities and challenges of community energy and preparing young people with the skills needed for a changing future.

A special thanks to Rosie Balyuzi for bringing the conversations to life and to Alexander Williamson Photographer & Filmmaker for capturing the day so beautifully.

And then there were none… just an empty conference room and one very happy, very tired team! 🍃

A massive thank you to everyone who came along to Elements of Change today. Our speakers were awesome, there was a real buzz around the stalls, Grace and Eilidh led the day brilliantly, and Rosie captured it all through her illustrations.

Photos by Alex to come later. For now, it’s feet up, a cup of tea, and a wee think about doing it all again next year. ☕

A great morning at the UHI Welcome Fayre meeting some of the new students.

I was amazed at how far some of them had travelled to come and study here in Moray! We had some hilarious conversations, made a few new connections and discovered that loads of them are already doing their bit for climate and nature.

The climate action wheel went down well as always, although one student kept it very simple: “Put your litter in the bin!” Fair point 😂

🌿 Nature restoration in action! We're so looking forward to hearing from Jonathan Caddy and the incredible work of the Findhorn Hinterland Trust and their efforts to restore and protect this local habitat.

From strengthening the dune system to improving biodiversity, their work is helping nature recover while building resilience to the impacts of climate change.

What makes this work especially exciting is that the lessons being learned here in Moray could help other coastal communities facing similar challenges.
