Elgin Youth Café is a place to come and chill with your friends or make new friends for all those of secondary school age young people. We have all sorts of consoles such as VR headsets, PS5, Xbox One and even have pool table, table football and ping pong table. Our Youth Workers, along with trainees & volunteer, provide support and activities for young people.

Meet our Wellbeing Youth Worker Codi!

Codi is passionate about issues that matter to young people and works to support wellbeing through targeted work such as our Neurodiverse Friendly Sessions.

She told us a little bit more about herself below!

🛫What do you like doing in your spare time?
I like spending time with friends and family, travelling and going shopping.

I’m a twin

🫂What session is your favourite and why?
My favourite session is our neurodiverse friendly sessions because it’s a really welcoming and friendly space. I enjoy seeing young people become more confident, make new friends and feel comfortable being themselves. It’s great to see the group connect and have fun together, and I love being part of something that helps people feel included and supported.

💬What’s a piece of advice you’d give your teenage self?
Stop worrying so much about what everyone else is doing and focus on your own journey.

WHAT DO WE DO? WEDNESDAYS 💭

Our Neurodiverse Friendly Sessions were started thanks to feedback from one of young people who told us that it can sometimes be difficult to attend our core activities because they're busy, noisy and unpredictable.

These sessions are similar to our drop-ins but in a quieter, more relaxed setting with added structure so you know exactly what you're walking into. Each session is planned with the needs of young people who are neurodivergent in mind.

We run 2 sessions as well as a cooking class each month. While our Neurodiverse Friendly Sessions are targeted at 11-18 year old neurodivergent young people, a formal diagnosis is not required to attend. As these activities aim to be quiet and less busy, booking is required.

Youth Lounge Lossiemouth🤩

As part of our new Cashback @ The Warehouse project, we are excited to announce that our first outreach pop-up session will be on Monday 12th of October in Lossiemouth!

Open to all S1-S6 aged young people in the Lossiemouth area. Come along and have your say on what you want to see on offer in your area while taking part in free, fun activities like VR, board games and crafts!

Meet our Youth Team Manager, Sarah!

Sarah steers the youth work ship - making sure that everything we offer is relevant to young people and most importantly, fun!

⛳What are 3 things you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like to go golfing, hiking and spend lots of time with friends and family.

🎶What song puts you in a good mood?
Mamma Mia - ABBA

📺What's your favourite movie, tv show or book?
Gilmore Girls

🙋What session is your favourite and why?
It’s hard to choose just one session, every day is totally different in this job, but I absolutely love Youth Takeovers. Seeing the young people growing in confidence and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and them seeing their hard work pay off. The end of summer BBQ and water fight is also a highlight every year!

💛What's your favourite thing about being a youth worker?
I absolutely love being a youth worker, every day is totally different! One of my favourite things about this job is getting to know all of the young people and supporting them to realise their potential through different projects. Seeing them grow in confidence and push themselves out of their comfort zone. Also, we get to take part in all of the holiday activities which is always fun!
