Moray Fresh Start It's difficult moving from homelessness to a new tenancy, lots of things to buy at a time when money won’t stretch.

We support homeless people moving into new tenancy in Moray, providing a pack of basic household items to help make a new beginning.

FANCY A COFFEE AND GREAT CAKES!!

Moray fresh Start has been invited to Roseisle Hall's next Coffee Morning on Saturday, 5th September between 10.00am and noon.

We shall also have a craft stall there with some novel items.

CAN YOU HELP?

At present we now have sufficient stock of duvet covers, but we are very short of flat/fitted single and double sheets. If you have any clean and 'gently used' items, we should be glad to receive them.

Any donations can be made at our Store in Unit 10, the Old Elgin Railway Station on Maisondieu Road (opposite the Laichmoray Hotel) – through the stone archway, then the red door round on the left. Our Store is open 9.00am to 11.00am (Monday to Friday) and between 10.00am and noon on Saturday mornings.

REQUESTS FOR OUR SUPPORT REMAIN AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH!

Demand remains high! This year to the end of July we issued 147 packs, (another record at this stage in our business year!!!) helping a total of 235 people, 72 of whom were aged under 16. 2026 looks to being even busier than last year!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO SCOTMID & SEMI-CHEM!!!!!!!

Moray Fresh Start has been awarded £400 in Semi-chem and Scotmid vouchers to buy toilet rolls, cleaning materials, and other products from their Stores. £100 of the vouchers spent at Semi-Chem in Nairn bought all the items you can see in the attached picture!

£300, still to spend! We shall be shopping in Scotmid stores in Elgin over the next few weeks to stock up on more cleaning cloths, anti- bacterial sprays, and washing up liquid. All these items will be included in our Packs to help homeless people in Moray as they get their new tenancy but lack funds for such essentials.

STILL A BUSY YEAR FOR MORAY FRESH START!!

We are still busier than last year! Though demand in June returned to almost 'normal' levels, by the end of the month we had issued 124 packs, (another record!!!) helping a total of 201 people, 64 of whom were aged under 16. At this stage in the year, demand remains some 25% above the previous 5 years' average! So our grateful thanks to all who have supported us in our work.

MYTH: "HOMELESSNESS ONLY AFFECTS PEOPLE SLEEPING ROUGH."
FACT: Many people experiencing homelessness stay in temporary accommodation, sofa surf
with friends or family or live in insecure housing situations. Homelessness can be hidden, and it affects people from all walks of life. At Moray Fresh Start, we help people turn a house into a home when they are moving on from homelessness. Our stall in Cooper Park last Sunday was well visited! We should like to thank the army cadets who very kindly assisted us to put up and take down our gazebo – their help was very much appreciated!

Sincere thanks again to the Roseisle Hall Committee for their very generous cash donation from their Coffee Morning last Saturday. We shall use it to pay for items such as duvets and pillows, all of which we buy new.
